NYU Spring Transfer 2015

^ I would like to know this as well. I go to UCLA and since we literally started two weeks ago, I don’t know what kind of grades they want me to send in. And the common app includes like a college report thing…I have no idea who my counsellor is and since they don’t know me very well yet I am unsure whether this report applies to me. If anyone has any additional info I’d appreciate it. Also taptap123, I believe you can use your high school recommenders, that’s what I am doing.

Hello, I am applying to NYU as a spring transfer student with 60 units. I have a 3.95 gpa and am a semester ahead from taking 19 units a semester. I am transferring from a community college in California. I am part of phi theta kappa, have a great letter or rec, essays are good and have a TON of community service. However my highschool gpa was awful a 2.98… What do you guys think my chances of admission are? I would also need a decent amount of scholarships and grants since I am out of state which I know is not easily recieved at NYU.

@taptap123‌, what are your grades looking like this semester because you might have to submit a mid-term report.

I’m not really so sure what my grades are gonna be like this semester. What grades exactly are on a mid term report? Just whatever one or two tests I took by then?

Yep. I won’t even have a mid year report by then cause I’m on the damn quarter system.

Unless your mid-term report shows straight B’s, you shouldn’t have an issue transferring. Barnard > NYU in my book though, you’re still going to be in the same city, have an equally tough curriculum, and will be around the same people. What does NYU have that Barnard doesn’t? Can’t Barnard students take any class they want to in Columbia College? I apologize for all of the questions but I don’t really see the point of transferring.

@pinkpop‌ , exactly same position as you. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that we get in.

Would you guys chance me for Spring 2015 transfer?

Applying to CAS as sophomore
Major: Journalism with French minor
Current GPA: 3.715 (3.934 first semester/3.4 second semester) hoping for 4.0 this semester

I’ve had two jobs every summer since sophomore year of high school and volunteered at a hospital during high school.

Thanks!

@emily199416, congrats you are going to be a double major.
All journalism majors are required to complete a second major.

@PSC2IVY‌ I’m planning to change my minor in French to a major if that’s the case. Does anyone think that I have a shot?

My chance?

Sophomore
GPA: 3.61(Fall 2013:3.42, Spring 2014:3.68 Summer 2014: 4 It took me a while to adjust into college but I’m doing better in college)
I’m majoring journalism now and trying to double major in either political science or economy.
EC: videographer in college newspaper, internships, tutor, volunteer at MPAA conference; one recommendation from my stat professor
SATs: I applied NYU as freshman. They still have my scores in their database I think.
High School gpa: 3.85
Credit amount: Currently 39 credits. I’ll have 52 by the end of this semester.

I haven’t submitted my midterm report yet because my midterm is still going on.

Do you know if the deadline for the midterm report is Nov. 1 because I still haven’t received grades in some of my classes?

well, I emailed nyu admission office yesterday and she replied that midterm-report is not required and if it is available, you should send it to us because sometimes we will ask for it.

Hii guysss…i wanted to know if NYU admits certain amount of applicants in each major versus just admitting applicants to CAS as a whole…for example like 15% need to be journalism 20%economic

Hey I don’t mind the question at all. It sort of comes down to not liking the environment at barnard very much. I also just feel more at home downtown. Academically, I find the gallatin design your own major program really appealing. I feel like if I stay at barnard I’ll fall back on majoring in English. At gallatin I can create a major and take classes that I think look interesting. Barnard’s a great school, but socially something about it really bothers me.

My comment was deleted… odd?

3.95GPA/31ACT, lol. If I don’t get in…

I submitted my app a couple of days ago. I’m really nervous! Best of luck to all of you!

Does anybody know if journalism is more competitive is more competitive to transfer into compared to other majors?

Accidentally typed “is more competitive” twice, whoops.
