Haha, I am a first semester freshman, and I have been reading all of your comments. Just felt like I’d share because well, I am anxious and fussing about the matter to myself won’t help. I applied senior year, but got rejected because well I had a sub 3.0 gap (lol). Don’t even know why I ever thought I could’ve gotten in, plus I’m asian so that definitely works against me. But this semester I have a 4.0gpa + summer classes, at the #82 university in the nation and got a nice internship over the summer in the financial sector. So I applied again, NYU is my dream school. SO in that regard Im thinking my chances are below 20%, since I have only one semester of school. Either way, can’t way till they release decisions, I don’t really know how I will feel when I see the “Thank you but our pool of applicants was just to big” or the “congratulations”. Have a good day everyone. Also I applied to Politics/Economics.

@struggles, I understand. Most applicants are anxious and not sure about the result. Try to pay attention to your current study and keep walking on, after all, even if fail this time, the current performance will help the application next time. Do not influence your current performance when you wait for your offer. If anxious, feel free to share it here. Good luck guys in this thread. ~O)

That is very impressive @struggles but I honestly think that your high school record might weigh you down despite how wonderfully you have done in college. I hope they see your determination and admit you! I did not do great in high school and I know how it feels to not get into your first choice school all because of a silly number. My first choice in high school was Brandeis but sadly, I was rejected.

Decisions will be rolling out November 15th until the end of December!

I have a question for all of you… Why NYU? @PSC2IVY it seems like you live in Florida… That is so very different from NYU so what is so intriguing about this school? I live in California and also applied to a couple Cali schools and my mom asked me why NYU was my first choice… My only answer was because it’s New York!! I want to live in the city… So I was wondering what other people’s reasons are…

I want to live in the city after graduation and continue my career as a YouTuber, a lot of people i collab with live in the city or right outside as well.

@psc2ivy Yeah I will probably end up going to UM if I don’t get into NYU (or Northwestern… hah). It’s a pretty decent school academically and the atmosphere is great, but the premed program there isn’t great. It’s basically “lol here are the classes you need to take” they don’t really do anything. I have lots of friends at UM so that’s what I’ve gathered at least.

@struggles Do you go to Stony Brook?

@pinkpop I’m from FL, too. I applied to NYU primarily for its stellar philosophy program and its pretty strong sciences too (good for premed). I used to live in Shanghai and Miami so I’m used to the big city life, as well.

@whitechiner, U of Mich is also what I think of. Since this time I only applied to NYU. If, unfortunately, I do not get admitted, I will applied to U of Mich next semester.

Well… I find UM probably is not U of Mich… #:-S

@whitechiner yeah I do. Apparently a lot of people do transfer out, but the only thing I think holding me back is that I have not completed one semester.

I was wondering if anyone is currently in their first college math class or if someone is applying without one… I only had to take stats and I am currently taking it… I was just informed by CLU that they can’t offer me admission until this course is complete… I tried calling NYU but they had closed ( it’s three hours earlier in cali) does anyone know if I will have a problem with this at NYU?

Thanks!!

Unless you did poorly in math in high school or are applying as a math/science major, I would not worry too much. :-)

@pinkpop, this is also my worry. I didn’t study hard in China, and did poorly on math… But now my major is OSU is mathematics and this semester I do well in math course till now. I am afraid they will reject me because of my performance in China…sad… Will they pay more attention to recent performance?

@PSC2IVY def not a math or science major haha! Psychology!! I tend to take the easier way out… So you don’t think I’ll have a problem? There are no minimum requirements? I couldn’t find anything online! Math was never my strongest subject but I have an A and am planning on keeping it!!

@bromary I think they will be more interested in your recent work!

Does anyone have any advice on applying past the deadline for transfer? I feel like I might still have a chance of getting reviewed but the Common App won’t allow me to send the application in. I am hesitant to contact them without them having my application because it will be easier for them to simply turn it away.

You’ll never know unless you try. I heard about a guy who applied twelve days past the deadline and was accepted last year.

I didn’t think it was possible to apply after the deadline… I would contact admissions and really try to show your interest!

Anything is possible! How can I send them my Common App? Applying for the spring is not listed as an option. Should I just say I’m applying for next fall and let them know that I’m actually applying for spring?

The whole “contacting admissions and showing your interest” only works for athletes, legacies, celebrities, and students applying to small schools unfortunately. If you’ve expressed it in your application, that is enough.

You can try that! But you need to call and check if they are still accepting applications for spring transfers
