NYU Spring Transfer 2016

Still waiting. Good luck to everyone!!

I got my decision at 10:05 EST for CAS

Congrats! Would you mind sharing your stats?

Anyone accepted?

So… The ones who got decisions this morning: were you all accepted? I’m a bit nervous, because I saw someone mentioned that NYU releases decisions every other week. My school’s deadline for tuition next quarter is Dec. 15… I can’t wait until the week after next week… :frowning:

Sorry I thought the smiley face said it all hahaha, yes, I got accepted to CAS.

@bw68apply I would suggest calling them and telling them you have a deadline for another school. They’ll most likely rush your decision.

@aas555 thank you for your suggestion. I am considering calling them. I don’t know if rushing my application would negatively affect my decision?

Hey guys, do you mind sharing through which channel did you guys here the news?

Accepted to Boston College. NYU’s definitely my first choice though.

Hmm, I don’t think it would just because another person on this thread posted a few day ago that they called admissions telling them that they, like yourself, needed to respond to another college by Dec 9th. So admissions put a note in their file saying they’re in a “time crunch” so that they’ll remember to give them their decision ASAP. That’s the only reason I’m suggesting.
@bw68apply

@ilovemyself123 I received an email, I checked it first. But I’m sure if I had checked NYU Albert I would have also seen the purple “Admission Decision” button in the top right corner on the Application Status page.

Wow! congrats to all who got admitted! :-* I’m still waiting mine as well.

Got accepted this morning at 10am to CAS. I’m at NYU right now I swear I’m in Weinstein lol. I ran here. :))))

Was it all acceptance letters today?

nope! I can attest to that.

I’m sorry to hear that man!

Throwaway account. Posting my stats since I think I had a bit of an atypical transfer application process, and I would want anyone with a similar situation to feel confident enough to try applying in the future if they came across this post.

Accepted to CAS at NYU

Early-ish 20’s M currently living alone in NYC
HS GPA: 3.5/4 UW (HS did not weight grades)
Lafayette College GPA: 0.9 :frowning: (Yes this really happened, lots of WD’s too)

  • took three years off from school, struggled with severe depression and anxiety -
Eugene Lang New School GPA: 4.0 (likely going to be near a 3.75-4.0 this semester)
    SAT: 2020, CR 630, M 740, W 650, E 11
    SAT Math Level 2: 740
    ACT: 30, E 30, M 29, R 29, S 32, W 9

Essays: Wrote pretty blunt/straight-forward on my reasonings for wanting to transfer, as well as my reasons for wanting to attend NYU. Nothing flowery. Also vaguely addressed the reasons why my initial college experience did not go well, why I took about three years off from school, and why I am now ready to handle a school like NYU. Probably around a 7-8/10, but I trend to be more critically on my writing than I should.

Recommendations: From two professors whose classes I received A’s in within the past year. I assume they were both pretty good, but I never asked for any insight on what they wrote.

Activities: Did not report any information about extracurriculars in my application. Was directly contacted by an NYU admissions officer for more personal information shortly after I applied, and I was able to communicate in more detail why I took time off from school, and what I was up to during my time away from school.

SUPER EXCITED TO ATTEND IN THE SPRING! I actually severely regretted not applying to NYU directly out of HS, so I’m glad to finally end up there even after my shaky start to my college education. I applied on a whim, and I was not completely convince I would be a competitive candidate, so getting the admission email yesterday morning was quite a relief.

Good luck to anyone else who has not received a decision yet. I did not apply for FA, and I did not have an FA change on Albert, so if you have not seen any changes yet it is likely not a bad sign

Congrats!! You deserve it!
