NYU Spring Transfer 2016

For anyone looking for stats:

I got into CAS.

High school GPA: 4.15/4.0

College GPA (so far - I’m only a freshman first semester): 4.0/4.0

ACT: 31/ SAT: 1980

SAT IIS: 760 Bio (M) & 720 U.S. History

AP Exams (not sure if this goes into it at all but…) four 5s, three 4s, two 3s

Essay: I put like 3000 hours of work into them. I made them personalized regarding my career ambitions to which I related to NYU. I was very creative for the why NYU essay and very honest with my transfer essay. I also worked really hard on including important information in my additional information section (ex: first generation, legacy, etc.)

Extracurriculars: President of history fair club, secretary of prom committee, interned with dentist, tutored, 120+ hours of community service, had a job at a craft store

Recommendations: They already had my high school ones (one from biology and one from US History - did well in both classes and on both AP examinations) and one from my high school teacher that I had senior year for college-level English; I had a personal bond with her. Also, my lovely guidance counselor who I was really close with!

Good luck everybody! If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to message me.

And for all of you accepted: Congrats!!!

What number or email did you use to get a hold of an admissions rep?

Hey guys! Would you mind honestly chancing me…? I’m going insane not hearing back yet!

I’m applying into the College of Nursing

I didn’t do too hot in high school… 3.3-3.4/4.0 I took college prep and honors classes. I didn’t submit SATs.
College GPA so far is a 3.66 and I have 37 credits completed and at the end of this semester I’ll have 47. This is my second year of community college, I completed one year already.
I’m a member of the honor society Phi Theta Kappa
I work as a pharmacy technician
In high school I played varsity lacrosse and won coaches award for two years
This past spring I head coached my own lacrosse team for 5th and 6th grade girls

Essay: I was honest and straight forward about why I wanted to attend nyu saying I needed and wanted the academics they give in order to become a nurse and that the school would be the best for me to do that etc. The transfer essay I made creative/inspiring, wrote about a high school experience I had that made me want to become a pediatric nurse.

Recommendations: I only ended up getting one from my advisor who wrote a really good one for me. My other professor I asked ended up not getting back to me about my recommendation after she said she would love to write me one (go figure) and it was too late to ask a different professor.

Hey guys I was accepted on Thursday to CAS for Social and Cultural Analysis. I was wondering if anyone has received decent financial aid (grants) and if there’s a Facebook page for all those NYU Transfer homies.

Congrats and good luck to all!

Did anyone actually hear back from financial aid?

Did anyone who applied Steinhardt hear back? So far I am so worried…

Has anyone heard back from nursing??

I still haven’t heard back from CAS…and I was the one that called them and told them I needed to find out ASAP. It’s okay though because now I’m going to a much better school anyways, but I’m still very annoyed I haven’t gotten a response, especially since they put a note on my application to rush my response.

where r u going?

also - has anyone got a financial aid package yet??? i’m still waiting!

@ilovenyu1 Looks like she’s going to Barnard based on her posts.

@rachel2014 Well what is the “better” school is certainly subjective considering Barnard and NYU are such different schools physically and academically (and also considering half the worlds population literally could not apply to Barnard because of their identified sex/gender :stuck_out_tongue: ). I guess the obvious counterpart would be Columbia, but personally I’ve always had an aversion towards it’s location/campus (I can’t be the only one, right?) despite the academic prestige.

Congrats though. I know a couple people who attend Barnard and they love it!

Are they on vacation or something?! I emailed the admission office on last Saturday that I need to hear the decision before the 17th and not to mention that I still haven’t heard the decision, but I still haven’t got any reply yet.

@hyjuki1203 I called many times… They said they had no way to rush our decisions since it is a rolling base. I really need to hear back soon but so far i cannot find better way than waiting. Hope we all hear good news by this two weeks.

@anyamm so that means thanks to NYU, I may not able to register for spring term at my current cc sweet  Anyways so… I was wondering about the rolling base system do they first release decisions to people who NYU favor more in terms of GPA, activities and personal essays? or do they just release them randomly?!

@nyugirlx19 hi! check this page http://allnurses.com/new-york-nursing/nyu-spring-2016-a-1001827-page10.html for nursing program spring 2016!

Did anyone who got in hear from financial aid yet??? I need to know asap becase I have only 8 days left to respond to them (since my email was sent last thurs)

For anyone applying to Tisch, I talked to an admissions rep and they said the decisions would be out on Dec. 17th.

@hyjuki1203 They said they would release the decisions in the order of time when we submitted our applications… I submitted very late, so they said I had to wait. Hope it helps.

Is that true?? I applied pretty early (mid Oct.) and yet still haven’t heard anything. I’ll email them if I don’t hear anything today. But it seems like emailing and calling the admissions really don’t help anything haha.

Well…i applied on October 9 and i still havent heard the decision
