NYU SSN Question

U.S. citizens and permanent residents applying to our New York and/or Shanghai campuses must also complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by our deadlines to be eligible for all forms of financial aid, including NYU scholarships. In order to be considered, you must provide your Social Security Number on the Common Application. Have you entered your Social Security Number (if you have one) and do you understand this requirement?

This NYU question gives you options YES or NO.

I’m not applying for financial aid, so NO I haven’t entered my SSN.
But YES I do understand this requirement.

Do I choose YES or NO?
