I am rather puzzled over NYU...I have not received the e-mail, but NYU has a higher admission rate compared to that of UC Berkeley, UCLA, and USC (I am from CA). What are the stats for NYU admissions? What approach do they use to accept students? (I applied to CAS.)

Oh, by stats I am referring to GPA and test scores (and ECs). While I know the criteria is not solely objective, they should give me an idea of where my own are at.

Depends on which NYU school you applied to.

what about cas then…

I applied to College of Arts and Science. Are there published stats, or would accepted people like to share them? Again I am merely puzzled because I do/did not know if NYU’s CAS is comparable to the top tier UCs.

There isn’t really a boundary of stats you should be in because there are simply too many variables. If you look at the acceptance thread there are SAT’s ranging from 1800-2400 and UW GPA’s ranging from 3.3-4.0. Your essays, recs, and EC’s will count quite a bit too, if not moreso.

Is their holistic approach perhaps more similar to another private school? The UCs did not ask for recs or look too heavily at ECs, but I’m sure USC is more selective in that respect. Of course no one knows how the admissions make their decisions, and I am not complaining whether or not I get in, I just am curious as to why.

I did not know there was an acceptance thread, I will look for it now :)

here is some stats about NYU on college board, just click next at the bottom to go to the next page and read more:
[College Search - New York University - NYU - At a Glance](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)

NYU used to have a +30% admittance rate but I think in recent years it’s dropped to around 25% like USC & co.

@dreamupsided0wn Yeah, I believe that last year the acceptance rate for NYU was 24% and there were even more applicants this year.

Looks like no one has any stats or access to stats regarding NYU’s CAS class.

The CollegeBoard link someone gave is rubbish to what the OP is asking. Woudln’t CAS have different stats seeing Tisch and other programs as well as LSP probably drag the stats down? Wouldn’t CAS appear more selective if its stats were individually looked at?

^ sorry, just posted what i could find
