I am currently in the process of narrowing down my schools and I cannot decide whether to apply to Steinhardt or LSP. I was wondering what the major differences are and if either are easier/harder to get into?
im pretty sure that steinhadrt is a lot harder to get in than LSP, considering steinhardt is a top ranking business college
@RussMVP Stern is our business school, Steinhardt is Education, Culture, and Human Development
But yeah generally LSP is regarded as having higher acceptance–however, it’s also a unique program that is very strict in what you can take and works really well for some people, but not everyone. I’d recommend really looking at its requirements before applying, don’t just apply because you think it’ll be an easy way into NYU. That just sets you up to be miserable your first 2 years.
edit bc I didn’t see your other question: LSP is a 2-year program that then transitions into one of the other schools, usually Steinhardt or CAS. It’s very humanities and philosophy driven with very small, discussion-based classes and its own core. There is a lot of reading and writing, but it sets you up with a really good foundation for the rest of college. There’s definitely pros and cons to it–I know people who really really love it and people who hate it.
Steinhardt varies vastly with program, so I can’t give you an overview of that.
does Steinhardt have generally discussion or lecture-based classes?
That completely depends on the class. I’m in CAS which is the biggest school and I have a mix of lectures and smaller classes. There are less huge lectures in Steinhardt, though, but it 100% depends on the class and program. With a little googling I’m sure you can find exact numbers and percentages
