NYU doesn’t care much about your weighted GPA, they’ll recalculate them back to your unweighted if you give them weighted. What’s your unweighted GPA?

The fact that you don’t have a rigorous school schedule for Fresh + Sophomore year is going to hurt you, otherwise you look fine.

i dont know my UW gpa b/c my school only gave us weighted
do i look like i have a legit shot at stern though?

you seem like the typical stern applicant.

as in… it looks like i can get in? lol

not sure-in for sure but chances are decent and competitive. hmm too many clubs, just write down the ones you are most active and/or have interests in.

You have to be kidding me…

In any case,

This reeks of resume padding. Seriously streamline it. Where have you truly achieved success with your ECs? Your numbers look fine for Stern but everyone else’s numbers look fine too. What you’ll have to think most about is how you’re going to present yourself. Currently you come across as a frenetic Asian resume padder - hence the “typical stern applicant”. I don’t mean to be offensive (I’m Asian too) but you have to rise above what’s considered typical to stand a good shot.

yes, but it could really go either way.

yea man what is with the list of clubs? Have you done anything worthy in any of them?

I say if you can write a good essay you will get in, however, I will echo the other members, I wouldnt put down all those clubs, pretty funny how you were in the Japan and the Chinese club, thats kinda like being in the Young Democrats and Young Republicans club, unless you are actually Japanese and Chinese ( which could make for an interesting essay topic if you are).

“foods club” lol

10char

I go to Stern at the moment. Or just switched into Gallatin, but was in Stern initially.

Your varsity sports are good, but athletic performance at your level (good at the regional, top ten at school thing) doesn’t really matter unless you’re good enough to get recruited.

Luckily, it isn’t hard to get recruited at NYU for Track and Field, at least for sprints. I don’t know what your times are, but it can’t hurt to talk to the coach or fill out the recruiting questionnaire.

I ended up deciding not to run track, but I’d be able to run varsity for the 200 through 1600m. My times were 50 sec (or 49.9, lol) for the 400, 1:56 for the 800, 4:26 on the 1600. I know you run the 100 -it’s not too hard to get on. If you go sub 12 seconds, you’re on. Maybe slightly higher.

If you do go to Stern but aren’t recruited, you’d definitely be able to walk on. The people on the team are cool, it’s worth doing.

Regarding the rest of your application, you have a lot of fluff. You’re pretty much a general applicant -not a stand-out. Not that you aren’t smart, if you were top 10% I’d say you’re in. Your SAT is pretty good. They do pay attention there, although Stern’s average SAT scores are in the same range. They’re ridiculously high.

If you’re recruited, you’d at least be LSP into Stern. It’s actually a cool program.

There is no more LSP for Stern, they discontinued that the year my cousin was accepted into NYU. ( 2005??)
