NYU Stern: Admittance Chance (Chance Me)

NYU is my top choice. Love the city, love the campus, simply do not see myself anywhere else.
I am most probably going to early decision there but here are some of my doubts. I do not know my chances of getting into stern. Before I felt like I should just ED the regular college and then try transferring into stern from there (if I got admitted to NYU). But then again I hear it is very difficult to transfer into Stern. So here lies my problem.
If anyone has the time to let me know what they think my chances are of getting into NYU and Stern please post your comments. Also if you could tell me your opinion on what I should do (which school to ED to with the ambition of being a business student at stern) that would be great!

Thats all the information off the top of my head and i might be forgetting a couple things.
Considering all that and pretty solid essays and recommendations what do you guys think my chances are. I was also thinking about sending in some photos I am taking for my photography class in school as supplemental stuff, opinions?

Reach.

Weak gpa and weak~average test scores.

Agreed. GPA is low. UW GPA is usually 3.6 or 3.7+

SAT is fine. Not sure about gpa. Some people from my high school got into Stern with ~3.5, but it differs. Would need to raise the gpa to stay on the safe side.

So do you guys think I should ED stern directly or go with the ED arts and sciences and try transferring internally?

If you definitely want business, I’d apply to Stern. Internal transfers at some schools (don’t know about NYU) can be difficult – many colleges are wise to idea of a student getting into a college and then doing an internal transfer and don’t encourage it while other schools (generally ones where it is the same standard for every program) allow internal transfers easily. You should check NYU’s history. If you want NYC and business and don’t get into Stern, maybe look at Fordham (or even apply EA there). You certainly seem to have a chance for NYU but it would be wise to have other options lined up. As a mom, I’d tell you not to put all of your hopes into one school. There are many great choices out there. Good luck.

The breakdown of the SAT is needed. Since the student got a 790 in Math, that suggests lowish scores in the other 2 sections if the total is 2100.

However, is this student aware that NYU gives LOUSY financial aid. If the family is willing to pay all costs then fine. If not, then the student will have a serious issue since his stats aren’t high enough to snag one of the few merit scholarships that NYU offers.

Petradio…how much will your family pay? If you don’t know ask. If they’ll pay full freight, then awesome! :)
