Hi-- I am currently a junior, and about to start preparing for the SAT. I was wondering what score I would need to be a great candidate for NYU STERN BPE. I am a latino, I have around a 3.8 GPA, and I speak three languages fluently ( hoping to add two more languages by graduation) please let me know. Thanks!

2100+

middle 50% score range for stern is 1400-1500 on the old sat.
I’d assume BPE is more competitive, but I’m not sure.

The goal should always be 2400 though. ;)

I think you should be ok with 2000 or above if your other stuff is strong.

No one can really tell you, since it’s just starting this year. I’m definitely applying for it this year though. :D

Ha, you posted at 12:34.

Get an SAT score within the range, apply ED, and you’re set.
NYU doesn’t reject smart latinos, I’m just a little jealous haha.

hahaha. thank you all! NYU BPE is my dream, ( well, except Harvard) ahhaha :)

one question, what do you consider ‘strong’

by strong, i mean keep your GPA up, commit yourself to your ECs, and work hard on your essays.

Hey there, saw your post and registered to answer your question, as I was just accepted into the BPE program myself. I think the fact that you are a latino is a plus, especially for this program (i’m hispanic, it didnt hurt me). The key to this program is that you present yourself as a hard working student who is passionate about going abroad and experiencing new things. Keep your grades up, score over 2000 on your SATs (I had 2020) and really write with your heart when it comes time to do your essays. I wish you the best of luck for next year.

“Ha, you posted at 12:34.”

what are you talking about…
are you east coast?

2020s unite!!!

^^ stephennn, did you get a 2020 aswell?
what do you guys think is the lowest SAT score i could have to get into Stern BPE or just Stern

lol yes i did. but hopefully it is a 2100+ tomorrow morning =)

well, this is pretty late but I was also accepted to BPE.
SAT of 2200. Average of 92, which is really low. However, my school was ranked to be the top public HS in the nation by WSJ last year and all of my classes were honors/AP.
I think they’re looking for fit much more than pure academics. I have worked a summer internship for a councilman and currently working at Citigroup as an intern. I had high grades on my AP Economics tests as well. My leadership abilities were strong with two captainships and presidency of my school’s largest club, as well as a multitude of other extracurriculurs. Stern wants a colorful class to inaugurate the BPE program and if you can give them that, you’re set :D
