NYU STERN CHANCE?????

Hi! I’m currently a junior in high school and I’m really interested in NYU Stern, it’s my top 1 choice and I want to apply ED. But, I’m unsure if my stats are good enough especially because it gets more competitive each year. What are my chances?

GPA: my school has a weird system but its 4.62, not sure what it’s out of, it’ll go up by next year though
Ranking: top 10%
SAT: ((will take it two more times to improve–hoping to get a 2250)) Writing: 750 Math: 690 CR: 680
SAT 2: Bio 700 (took it freshman year), will take math and history
Junior Year AP’s: US History, Language and Composition, Physics 1 (haven’t taken the tests yet)
Senior Year AP’s: (most likely will take) AB Calc, Micro/Macro, Computer Science, Literature, Spanish, Statistics
Extra Curricular: drama club/musicals and plays every year, DECA, National Honors Society, Spanish Honors Society, Gay Straight Alliance, Free The Children, Community Service club, outside of school community service club, internship at Central Park, Cross Country (jv), Track and field (jv), work as a writer for an online music blog, principal’s honor role every year, student advisory committee with the principal

What are some more business related EC’s I can do/something that will make me a more attractive candidate??

I’m a strong writer so my essay’s will be good and my reccomondations will be good

I have a year until I apply, what can I do to improve my chances? I really love NYU, NYC is my favorite city and it’d be an absolute dream come true to be accepted. If i don’t get in ED, then that’s it for NYU and i’d have to go for another school

I’d say the biggest thing you could do right now is improve your SAT score. And by improve, I don’t mean to get an 800 on writing, because Stern doesn’t actually look at it! Just work on that CR+M score. Just remember their avg for CR+M is about 1450, so try to get yours above that!

Also, do you have any hooks? URM, first gen, etc…??

Agreed! Definitely work on you SAT score! Especially the Math section, since you’re applying to Stern

@koalaskool123 You need to raise that SAT subject test for math and your SAT 1 math (significantly). As for ecs you should do more business related ones for sure. Get into senior positions at non profits. Make your own non profit. Make your own company. DECA and investment clubs. Publish papers on investments and market analysis. These things are not impossible. I have done a number of them and on the NYU 2020 page plenty of others have as well. Your current ecs don’t have a business theme. From initial glance over I got an artsy writer vibe. You don’t want admissions to get that vibe.

@abstudent44 Bruh. Make your own thread don’t piggyback on the OP. But you have a solid chance Score-wise. Your ecs however are not business related and it would have been better if you focused on business as an applicant to the Stern school of business.
