Note: I will possibly be applying ED

low reach. Your stats are either good, or very good, but there are 2 major flaws.

the extremely low scores amid good scores. 1 in ap chem? 570 in sat2 chem?

You seem to take pretty much everything. You have no focus, which colleges may not like. Coupled with the first flaw, it makes it seem like you take everything without thinking about whether or not you can do it first.

But still, you do have a good chance

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/997033-i-can-haz-chance-please-will-chance-back.html#post1065584801

I don’t have to report those scores

MATCH!!! NYU also has score choice option, which means that 3 SATII scores in 3 different subjects can replace the SATI, or you can take 3 AP tests in 3 different subjects to replace it. Plus, they mix and match that, which means either two SATII’s and one AP, or vice versa. So with your hundreds of AP/SAT tests to choose from, and your great SAT/ACT test scores, you’re pretty solid. And don’t worry about one C, it was Sophomore year and you made up for it the second semester. It’s definitely not going to be a deal breaker for you.

edit: I just wanted to add that although you are a great match, it doesn’t mean you will get in. With Stern, they also really want to see that you have a good Math II score, and compared to others yours might be lower.

@polaris12: Although his test subjects are scattered, he’s applying to Stern, which is business oriented, and needs to have applicants who are skilled in english, math, history, and economics, which he is. Chemistry won’t matter at all. He’s not a pre-med.

@ZooeyKing

Thanks for sharing your time :)

About half of my AP’s were self-studied and I passed all of them to get a National AP Scholar Award, will this help me in anyway?
I also realize that I don’t really excel in one area but I think the well-roundedness can help me in some way.

Also, how much does ED increase my chances?

slightly, yes.

I’m sure the NYU admissions will pick up on the fact that some of your scores must have been a result of self study, at what point it will just be up to that individual admissions officer to acknowledge it in that way OR just take your scores as how they appear on paper and not give it too much thought.

The National AP Scholar Award CAN help, but it wont severely sway their opinion because it’s not the most selective award.

When applying ED, there is a smaller pool of applicants and because I’m not that familiar with Stern, it’s hard for me to tell you with complete confidence that it can help because the pool of students can either have really great scores like you or lower scores (and thus want a greater chance of acceptance by applying ED).

I think you’re pretty much in.

It’s a high match. Good luck.
