Your SAT barely scrapes the bottom of last year’s mid 50% (1350-1530), and your GPAs of 85% and 70% are in the C-/B range. Their incoming class mostly have A/A- averages. According to NYU’s common data set, only 2% of NYU’s class of 2023 had GPAs of below B, and only 9% had GPAs in the low Bs. So I do not think that you have very much of a chance at being accepted to NYU.
I believe in the Indian system the grades specified are actually As and Bs, but still a 70 is right at the bottom of the B range, and the downward trend would be of concern. Stern would likely want mostly As and a much higher SAT; the median admitted SAT for all of NYU for the class of 2023 was 1480. Not what you want to hear, but I think chances are very slim.
Thanks for the replies actually I had a Indian friend who was also from my school and had very similar sat and GPA scores who got in NYU Ed last year but had some exceptional activities like international level theatre and a startup and social activities . Could my app and sales pitch give me any chance
Did he get into Stern, or into Tisch? International level theater activities could get an applicant accepted to Tisch with those GPAs, especially if they were applying to performing arts and did not require standardized testing. However, I would be very surprised if your friend was accepted into Stern with that GPA and those standardized test scores.
Your presentation at 2030 could have pushed you over the finish line, had your grades and SATs also been stellar. You are competing against international applicants who have similar national and international level recognition, AND have GPAs over 90% and SATs over 1500.
Is it possible that you will be accepted? Maybe. Is it likely? No.
However, even before all of this: can your parents afford full tuition, or even partial tuition at NYU? If not, you may not even be accepted, since NYU is need aware for international students. Even if you are accepted, NYU is expensive, and they are not very good at financial aid.
