NYU Stern Early Decision

<p>I'm a junior in high school now. What are my chances of getting into NYU Stern Early Decision with these stats?</p>

<p>GPA: 3.37 weighted (school doesn't do unweighted GPA)
SAT: 560 CR, 650 M, 720 W (1930 combined, plan on retaking it though)
ACT: 27 (hope to retake that also)
Class Rank: N/A (no class rank in school)</p>

<p>So far taken only 1 AP, but senior year taking 2 AP's.
-various honors classes throughout high school</p>

<p>-a few hours of international community service
-tennis player
-involved in various clubs (Junior Statesmen of America, Forensics, etc...)
-piano player</p>

<p>-I should have good teacher/guidance counselor recommendations and I should write a good essay.
-I don't need financial aid (if that matters)</p>

<p>Any advice/response would be nice. Thanks.</p>

I would say that NYU in general would be a reach for you, Stern even more so.</p>

<p>What state are you from?</p>

<p>There is a girl with lower stats than yours who got in last fall ED at NYU. She ended up having to decline because she didn’t know that NYU was lousy with aid. </p>

<p>However, be sure that your parents are willing and able to pay the full freight. :)</p>

<p>Mom2, while that may be true for the general NYU, Stern is one of the toughest schools to get into in the US…as it stands, you have very little chance.</p>

<p>If that is your weighted GPA, it is a bit low for NYU Stern.

<p>NYU CAS would be a very high reach. Stern’s a bit tougher, so I’d say it’s pretty much out of the picture… Sorry :(</p>

<p>Maybe check out some good business programs at state schools? UConn and Penn State are possibilities.</p>

<p>It (sadly for you) doesn’t matter; NYU is need-blind. But it could help (these days, perhaps a lot) at need-aware schools.</p>

<p>Yeah I thought I wouldn’t have much of a shot either. The only reason I’m asking is because my school is pretty competitive and a few people in my school have applied early decision to NYU with a lower GPA and SAT score than me and somehow gotten in.</p>

<p>^Yeah I’ve heard of some pretty surprising ED admits as well, but it’s really no guarantee.</p>
