Honestly, your stats are really good. You will get into NYU Stern during RD or ED2. However, NYU gives the best aid in RD. I was in the same position as you a few years ago (I’m a current junior at Stern) but applied RD and got tons of aid, which I wouldn’t have gotten in ED2. NYU tries to suck as much money out of you as they can in ED1 & ED2 because you signed an agreement and can’t back out.

Alright thanks so much for your answer, the whole financial aid situation with ED is what was scaring me haha.

@ronaldo10 but doesn’t applying for aid reduce your chances of getting in?

@BarrelBlaster, it might, but there is no way I would attend NYU Stern without aid.

@yikesyikesyikes my family has a similar income bracket, but my parents say they can afford 4 years without getting aid. I also have a sister who wants to go to the states. Are they hiding the truth to make me happier?

@BarrelBlaster, I could not possibly judge your family financial condition, but some possible differences between my family and yours are:

1) We live in NJ (High Taxes!!!)

2) My parents run a business (Expenses and Taxes!)

3) My parents support their parents to an extent

4) I have other siblings who need to go to college too.

5) I posted a wide income bracket, I have no idea where exactly my family lies in it (my parents are ambiguous with me).

@yikesyikesyikes hmm I see. To be honest, I think an applicant with your competitive stats will very likely receive FA, so don’t sweat over it.

I am an applicant from Canada, so I’m pretty sure I won’t be getting any FA, but I’ll probably still apply RD to keep my options open.
Who knows, maybe we will see each other in Stern class of 2019? :)

NYU is need blind, which means that they don’t consider how much aid you need when they evaluate your application. HOWEVER, NYU also does NOT guarantee to meet all need, so they could admit you but still not give you as much aid as you would need

True that. Considering your stats, just go RD. You will be alright and probably get more aid.
