I'm an international student enrolled at a top private high school in the U.S. I 'm undecided as to whether I should apply to Stern or Gallatin. I'm thinking of pursuing an undergraduate degree in actuarial science or international business. Financial aid is a secondary, unimportant factor and I plan on applying early decision. Based on my stats where do you recommend me applying, if at all?

SAT's should be higher for Stern.

i'd say try applying to stern. try to improve your sat's a bit. since your'e african, applying early, and an international who doesn't really care about finaid, you might have a decent chance.

and i really don't think legacies matter at nyu. there have been a lot of posts on these boards about students with double legacies and decent stats that got rejected form nyu.

im not really sure how gallatin admissions work.

Intl business isn't a 'real' major at Stern, although there is that cool international studies track now. It seems like you just want to do business, so you might as well just apply to Stern - I don't see any particular advantage for you in applying to Gallatin since you don't want to 'create your own major'. Also, actuarial science might be a hard major to do within Gallatin since it's a little harder to register for Stern classes if you're not in Stern...

thanks. i'll take my SATs again and i'll try to break 2100. other than my SATs, my essay and the early action program, does anyone have any advice on how to improve my chances at getting into stern? and does anyone know what GSP stern is all about?

GSP doesn't exist for Stern anymore, so you don't have to worry about it. have you taken the ACT's? you might do better on those.
