<p>If you decide you really need Vista, you can get the legal OEM version for very cheap at NewEgg. Main difference from the retail version is no support. You'll need to purchase some type of hardware though, but all you need to do is purchase a $0.99 cable.</p>
<p>Another option is to get a laptop with Vista Business preinstalled. Those would usually be the business-class laptops. They actually suit the needs of a college student more than a regular consumer-grade laptop.</p>
