I am currently freshman at NYU Stern. I am looking to transfer out to Wharton or Columbia.

My first semester GPA is about 3.7~8.
My highschool GPA: 3.8 (Unweighted)
SAT I : 1440 Verbal: 640, Math:800
Math IIC 800, Physics 730, Writing 610.

Is there any chance that I could transfer out to one of those schools?

ive heard that wharton is extremely tough to transfer into but its not impossible. also crest is correct in saying that columbia does not have undergraduate business.

on a side note, you go to stern which is right on par with wharton for the most part. if you truely hate nyu then i can see your reasoning, but if youre looking for prestige and job opportunites, theres no reason to transfer. thats just my 2 cents since i dont really know your whole story.

Wharton accepts about 40 sophmore transfers out of 350+ i think.
Yeah I think definatley you have a shot 3.7 should be competative but they also will look at our ec's.
I also agree with the previous post; doing well at Stern will look just as good to recruiters as being at Wharton.

hey..guys thx for the reply
um... I have some more questions to ask though..
is it impossible to transfer out of NYU Stern , finance major to Columbia, econ major or industrial engineering? like.. Are you only allowed to transfer to the business school?

maybe i dont understand your last question....but columbia does NOT have an undergraduate business school. they have a graduate school for business but NOT undergrad

my question is that if you are currently in undergrad business school, are you not permitted to transfer into normal college, i.e columbia Econ, Northwestern engineering, etc.
does that make sense?

It makes no difference. Although, some of your business/finance classes might not transfer. Nonetheless, you should contact the admissions office at both schools to find out.

Do i have a chance at these schools? with stats shown above?
Cornell-AEM
Columbia-Industrial Engineering
Upenn-Wharton
Northwestern-Industrial Engineering
Brown-Econ
Duke-Engineering

Reason behind the transfer is that I couldn't stand NYU no more.
I saw a constant Strike. My recitator for one class didn't show up for God's sake. It doesn't seem to be a college but a bunch of buildings. It is my fault that i didn't research about the school enough beforehand...(I applied ED for Stern)
Anyways.. please let me know what you guys think

Yes of course you may transfer out of a Business program and into a Liberals Arts Faculty - the only thing you have to consider is your courses transfer, though i think schools looks at these after you have been admitted. so definatley look into duke, columbia etc if you want to pursue an econ or engineering major -
