I know there's already a thread dedicated to this, but with there's still a month of waiting to go and I'd just like some re-evaluations to calm myself.

Did you take all the prerequirements for Stern including financial accounting/managerial accounting?
If you did... you have a great chance! No doubt!

Yep, I'm finishing up calculus (I'm borderlining A, A- but my calc prof loves me), and I have 4 eco classes under my belt (macro micro eco history of west and eco world history).

The Eco History of Western Civilization class was the only class under "Economics" @ NYU Precollege that wasn't filled up at the time, but I see what you're saying, so I guess I'm taking two.

I didn't think my chances were so great either, but thanks for the positive reply cider. I wouldn't mind waiting it out another year because I'm pretty sure I could maintain the 4.0 or 3.9+ @ sju and maybe apply to an ivy.

Jay1020, I had one question for you: I wanted to know how much do SAT scores influence in the decision process? what about ridiculously low (950)SAT scores but a decent GPA (3.75+) and decent ECs.

hm... what about 3.75 GPA and sophomore transfer? D-7, they usually disregard your SAT score if you are tansfering during sophomore year as a junior transfer...

Hey guys here are my stats-
GPA -- 3.85
Business major, sphomore

SAT 1- 950

I know my scores is way low. But do you think it would be of greater emphasis if I apply as Junior?

ECs--> Computer Site Consultant, International Student Ambassador, Resident Adviosr.

Summer --> Summer 2006 did internship at father's logistics firm back at home + went for summer school at LSE.

Please post your evaluations.

Thanks.

D-7,this was what you putted in NYU forum...

Just let you know... there are a lot of people who are applying because they have 3.8+ so.. what other things will they look?... Of course.. SAT score, recommendation+ so on...
If you are a sophomore transfer.. they will count SAT heavily.
If you are a junior transfer... They don't disregard your SAT but won't be counted as much as sophomore transfer..

I saw a post by an international student in the NYU website forum, who wanted to transfer to stern. His issue was he didn't have SAT scores but had IELTS. The admission counselor posted that he's not required to submit SAT scores unless he has completed less than 1year of college education at the time of application.

"I, international student, want to join NYU as a transfer student. I don't have SAT score, but I just got IELTS score. So I wonder whether it could be okay to apply or not. Is there minimum required score for IELTS? Thanks"-- By the student

"SATs are not required for transfer students unless you have completed less than 1 year of college at the time of application. We require an IELTS score of 7 or higher."-- By Admission counselor

If you minimum requirement for IELTS is 7.0..

As for the SAT test, you still need to submit the score if you took it in high school...especially for Stern, where most applicants got 3.8+ GPA.

sorry there are some typographical error in my previous post...D-7, as you are aware, the deadline for applying to Stern has already passed, so do you still remember what you put down in your application for the SAT section? If you indicated that you took the SAT, then i guess you have no choice but to submit it ASAP since they will not consider your application complete without it. If you took English composition 1 and 2 at SUNY Buffalo and got good grades, they will ignore the fact that you scored quite low for the SAT. After all, SAT is only used to predict your performance in college, and you did pretty good considering you got 3.8+ GPA overall....Good luck to u.
