Anyone here from NYU Stern Adcoms?

No, but then again I already know they will reject me.

There was someone a while back who had gotten in. It was around the time I heard from CAS... like the 14th or so.

Has anyone been denied admissions to NYU Stern as a transfer?

i was admitted to stern last wednesday/thursday by mail, large envelope

Congrats! I would appreciate it if you can tell me your stats.

3.85, 750 verbal 740 math, more extra-curriculars than almost anyone i've seen, i am in my second year in a community college, exceeded maximum unit allowance almost every quarter (very heavy courseload),

would rather not share more info than that. but you can pm me if you want more info

In another thread, someone said that they just received a rejection letter from Stern today.

I read it, he had pretty good stats. I am really confused and scared at the same time.

I am scared, too. I think I will be rejected. Maybe, I will receive my letter on Monday. I have awful stats, and I received a C in my Calc II class.

I hear NYU puts a lot of emphasis on to essays...It's a very artistic school, and they like to judge you by your creativity. Also, I hear they place emphasis on test scores as well (but this was mainly for first years...I don't know if it applies to transfers)

That does not make me feel better. I am a terrible essay writer. Half my work is incoherent, and the other half is trite and redundant. I wish I could write better. Then all my applications would have been better...

hi there,

I applied to NYU stern too. I am also international~

It is kinda scary to see people getting accepted so early, but congrats to anon08!

I ain't sure if my essay was good, I would say it's OK, not outstanding though~

I received my acceptance package in the mail today! :) I must say, it is the most well written acceptance letter I have received.

Could you post what your stats are?

What did it say? Did you apply as a transfer? What are your stats?

Yeah, I applied as a transfer. My stats are:

University of Miami
4.0 GPA (3.8-4.0 on midsemester report) with difficult classes
Some athletic extracurriculars... nothing too big
Took economics at U of Penn over the summer (A)

HS:
1340 SAT (680 Writing, 690 Math IC, 690 US History)
5 AP Calc AB, 5 AP Statistics, 4 AP US History, 3 US Government
3.56 uw GPA w/ hardest courseload
300-400 hours of community service

-Very good recommendations (one extra from a former Stern student that went on to be one of the top WS traders... and later my HS english teacher, the other 2 from college profs)
-What I think was a good essay - talked about how my extracurrics have led me to be competitive and have made me enjoy an environment like NYU offers , etc.

I was pretty suprised to get accepted, because I didn't think I had anything too extraordinary like many other applicants I saw apply to Stern as freshman.

Congratulations, dpinmiami!

Congrats DP!

Out of curiosity, was the athletics thing varsity, club, or intramural?

Actually, it was figure skating (not related to school). I have been doing it since 1996 and sent them a very short video (3 minutes) of me skating and talking about my skating.

Toph - I heard you got accepted to CAS - CONGRATS to you too!
