NYU stern vs. UMD Smith (with Penn waitlist)

I got waitlisted at UPenn yesterday. now i have to decide where to reply for may 1st.

i got a full ride into smith school of business at Maryland (i also got honors/gemstone).... but i'm not sure i like the school. at least 50% of my the people in my grade are going there.

anyone know if banneker/key scholars (the full ride scholarship) is looked at when applying to jobs???

i also got into NYU stern. this is my dream school but i could never afford it. my parents are telling me to take out a loan but i dont know what my job offers will be like in NYU. anyone have any knowledge on how nyu is with recruiting (i already know that it is geared towards finance majors but anymore facts would help).

in the end if i get into wharton (by getting admitted sometime in june) i will definetely go because its wharton.

my real question is: is it better to go to NYU (gamble a loan i would take) but probably get out with a decent job or is getting a full ride from UMD seen as equal to going to stern (assuming i do well my four years there).

If it means anything to you, NYU is pretty much smack dab right in the center of Manhattan. As far as I know, the job opportunities in such a city are pretty much limitless. I'm no expert nor know too much about NYU in particular, but I can tell you that NYU will probably be able to help you get a job much easier than many other colleges.

thanks cflorez... anyone else??

bump... help plz!!!!

Do you mean your parents will pay zero and you'll borrow almost $50K per year? That's a ton, but if I'd do it for anywhere, it would be a good business school if I were trying for a high paying business career. Stern isn't Wharton, but because of location you'll have lots of good internship and then job opportunities. If you become an ibanker the loan won't kill you, but only the top about 20% get those jobs at Wharton and Stern. OK, maybe 30% at Wharton or MIT. You'd have a hard time finding many on Wall Street from UMD.

Where you should go depends: If you want to go to grad school later then go ti UMD. If you want to find a job immediately after graduation then go to NYU.
