Hey everyone!
I was just wondering what my chances are for getting into NYU Stern. I’m currently a high school senior.

I’m also Asian- Indian
You have a great GPA and ACT score, but typically Stern likes their applicants to have business experience. You might get into Stern, definitely depends on what you wrote in your essay and why NYU supplement, and what kind of recs you got. If nothing else you’d likely get into LSP if you put that as an alternate.
Thank you! I believe I have a solid essay; my teachers and guidance counselor told me it was very unique, emotional and well written (hope they weren’t going easy on me!)
I would suggest not pondering whether or not you will get accepted, as the whole process is extremely random process. I was rejected with a 3.82 UW and I had many Business ECs, but people with lower GPAs and sometimes less experience got in also so to tell you the truth, you can not be sure. It is an extremely subjective process and every year it is different. It is not like there are any cutoffs. I spent the week before receiving my Stern decision obsessing over whether or not I would get accepted and if my GPA was good enough, which would never do any good.
On a brighter note, you seem to be well within the academic/EC range of NYU Stern, and in my opinion you havea good shot. But once again, please don’t listen to what I say or anyone else in this site says and just focus on staying happy. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. Best of luck to you, I hope you hear good news soon
@plshelpmicollege Thank you for the encouragement, it truly means a lot. Yeah, for this week, I’ve literally not been able to get any sleep, in trepidation of the decision. Again, thank you.
@fatidiot I’m not sure exactly what pg means, but I assume it’s projected grade. My school, we don’t do projected grades; in some classes, we’re struggling as is finish everything before the test.
I know it’s a bit outdated, but 22 years ago when I was applying to Stern, people with higher stats got rejected and I made it. Here is why: I came to the country in 1989 and was enrolled in 10th grade. Over the summer, I read so much that I was able to convince my guidance counselor to let me jump to the 11th grade, so the 10th grade scores were counted as 11th grade. My average was 89.3, back then, there was no weight assigned to AP and honors, I did not have any of them, so I was ranked very highly at my high school, not bad for someone who spoke very little English only a year ago. My SAT math score was 700 but verbal was very low, 320, all those fancy words and antonyms just killed it. I also wrote a great essay, I am sure, it had some grammatical errors but overall it was amazing. Finally, college counselor at my hs and head of math department wrote outstanding recommendations. NYU probably did a holistic approach, they definitely saw the potential.
