Hello, everyone! i'm a transfer student and just got accepted by nyu stern. i'm a rising sophomore and my intended major is finance, which i know stern is pretty good at. but can someone tell me how's nyu in terms of ECs, accommodations, dining and especially life of an international student? i would be really appreciate your response!

NYU doesn't have a strong "culture" as much as other universities. There are an array of EC's, but the "social life" is more based around going out to clubs/bars with friends, and enjoying what New York has to offer (more so than other schools located in large cities). The dining is fairly good from what I hear. The experience of international students can be very different. There are some international students at NYU who mostly stay with a group of kids from their home country; others lead mostly normal social lives (normal as in similar to other NYU students). Try and avoid just staying with one group of people as you lose a great deal of valuable experience by not meeting people who aren't from the same country or region as you are. On the upside New York is very much an international city, and you should find the transition to be less harsh compared to some other places.

stern has more of a 'community' of students than the other nyu colleges. stern and nyu also have a large number of intl students like yourself. i think you'll be fine.

social life, typical weekend?

I've heard that the 'community' at Stern is one of the most internally competitive and backstabbing 'communities' around, thanks in large part to the strict grading curve which ensures a certain proportion of Stern students get garbage grades in each course.

full of hip and what not.

I knew a grad student who went to NYU and he loved it.
