Hello,
I had to choose between UC Irvine, SDSU, Penn State, Drexel, Cal state LB, and NYU Tandon. Surprisingly NYU is my cheapest option of all so I committed to NYU. I’m aware that tandon is not necessarily the best engineering school but it’s not complete garbage… right? My main concern is whether I’ll find employment after undergrad, idrc where I go I just want the security of knowing I won’t have too much trouble finding a job. Does going to NYU tandon give me that security? Does NYU tandon offer good internship/ co-op programs and good career fairs? Will the fact that NYU has good connections get me anywhere? Am I screwed? If I am screwed, my brother is going to college next year so my financial aid situation should get better so I could potentially just transfer out.
Forgot to add that I’m majoring in Mechanical Engineering and minoring in aerospace.
When it comes to employment in engineering, accreditation is important. The Accrediting Board of Engineering Technology (ABET) has accredited the ME program at NYU Tandon on the main campus. There is another, but related, area of studies in Aerospace Engineering in which they are not accredited. As long as your degree is a BS in ME, Employment should not be a problem.
For the Tandon’s employment report see http://engineering.nyu.edu/data/ABETData.html
out of these schools NYU is def the best option in terms of employment etc
