NYU Tisch Acceptance?

I do not know what percentage of accepted students do not get the invitation to the accepted student events. I don’t honestly think anyone here knows that except NYU itself. I have not personally known anyone who got accepted who didn’t get the invitation. (that doesn’t mean anything, as it is just who I have ever known or read about) However, NYU maintains that you CAN be accepted without having received this invitation and that this invitation only goes out to “selected” accepted students. They say they are still making admissions decisions. I doubt they are trying to mislead anyone, and so I have to believe that. That said, when we attended the Tisch accepted event, which used to be called Saturday in the Square, it was a very big event with a lot of families that started in Skirball, which is like a Broadway style theater, quite large, and then broke up into separate groupings by major (drama being one of these).

So, it ain’t over until you get your official admissions decisions around April 1. Those who got the invitation now know they will get an acceptance package. For all others, you have to wait and see. I’m sorry to not know the “odds” of an acceptance for those who didn’t get the invite, but there is no way of knowing that.

PS…I’ll give you my personal opinion that is not based at all on any facts…you mention being realistic about the odds of being admitted without the invitation…and if it were me…I’d consider them slimmer odds, since it is already slim odds to be accepted for the Drama BFA at Tisch and so if many are already accepted, and you still have not been, I think the odds have gone down, but are not a done deal yet. That’s what I would read into it. AGAIN…that is sheer opinion, not based on any facts.

I got it today too!!! AHHHHH!!!

My mother didn’t believe me when I told her it was a definite acceptance. There’s a very slim chance that I’ll go(Money, and it’s so far…) but its nice to know that I could.

Soozie is right, the odds are slimmer if you don’t get an invitation, but I personally know of quite a few people who did not get invitations and were still accepted.
Also, keep in mind that a small number of people do get waitlisted, and I know of one girl in my studio who got off the waitlist. So don’t give up hope!

I called the admissions office first thing this morning regarding my D’s “book you’re travel to NYC” email, and they said if you got the email you’re accepted. If you applied to Tisch, you’re into Tisch… so congratulations to everyone who got in. Be happy!

i applied to tisch for drama and i got the same email, so i called the admissions office today. i can confirm that if you received an email inviting you to the upcoming events, you are definitely accepted! congrats !

So, on the e-mail it says that we’ll be notified again when their RSYP website is up and running… Does anybody have any idea when that might be??

Does anyone know about the “other city” gatherings April 17 and 18? Our daughter got one of those emails. We live in Northern California and I know there is one in SF but I assume they are for all the different schools. Or do they have special activities for Tisch students? I know the NY day seems to have some specific for Tisch students.

Do anything on the emails say anything about Tisch? My D auditioned, and just got an acceptance from NYU, but we are in such shock that we’re finding it hard to believe that this is really what she is accepted into. Apparently, she did get the travel email last week, but never told me, not realizing it was a prelude to an acceptance.

If your daughter applied to Tisch - that is the school where she is accepted.
They do not move kids around to different schools.

Studio placements come a little later…

Congrats!

janenw

I just got the official acceptance email (not the “book your plans to NYC” one)!
It makes the acceptance feel a little more real  It said that packages will be sent out tomorrow (27th) so they should get to us soon!

I got my acceptance email last night. I was so excited. My folks keep bothering me about whether NYU does the whole “you got into NYU but not tisch sorry kid” thing. Any help?

From what I have heard, NYU only accepts you to the program that you applied to. So if you applied to Tisch and got accepted to NYU, Tisch is the school you are accepted to :)

Faireverona:
I am 100% positive that you are accepted into Tisch. NYU ONLY accepts or denies students for the school to which they applied and will not consider you for any other program. If you auditioned for Tisch Drama and got that email yesterday, you ARE accepted to Tisch Drama for certain. Congrats!

If we still have not heard from Tisch, does that mean that we have most likely not been accepted?

As I have been informed, I was accepted. But it does not mention if I was accepted into musical theater or drama? Any thoughts?

I don’t think you find out about what studio you’ve been placed into until you recieve the separate, “studio placement” letter from Tisch. I think that letter is sent sometime this week, but I’m not sure. Anyway, that studio placement notification will tell you if you’re in the musical theatre studio or not.

If I still haven’t received anything from NYU yet should I assume that I have been rejected?

Hey I’m in the same boat as you (quietly worrying) because I did not get an email. However, a friend of mine had applied maybe 5 or 6 years ago and said don’t be positive until you get something in the mail. So I think we just have to wait it out and keep our fingers crossed!

You’re in. I got the same thing and I got accepted.
