I applied to the College of Arts and Sciences at NYU. I am undecided about a major, which I hear is a bad thing to be at NYU (is this true?), but I don't even know if I am going to NYU yet.
Anyway, I was wondering if I would be able to take classes that are Tisch classes (like directing, screenwriting, etc.) even if I am a student of NYU's CAS. Also, would I be able to minor in a degree from Tisch? Would I be able to double major with a Tisch degree?
I know if a student is part of Tisch, they are able to double major with a program from CAS so I'm wondering if that goes both ways (since part of Tisch's admission looks at talent).
Let's say I'm majoring in environmental studies at CAS. Would I be able to take Tisch classes? Would I be able to double major in directing without transferring to Tisch?
Please help me out! Thanks! (:

Also, which school within NYU do I have to go to do the minor in Business of Entertainment, Media and Technology? [Cross School Minor in Business of Entertainment, Media and Technology - Cross School Minor in Business of Entertainment, Media and Technology - NYU Steinhardt](http://steinhardt.nyu.edu/mcc/undergraduate/bemt_minor/bemt_minor)

You can minor in BEMT from CAS, Tisch, Stern or Steinhardt, and I assume Gallatin as well. No idea if you can do it from GLS (LSP), Nursing, SCPS, Poly, et al.

If you are a CAS student, you CANNOT double major in Tisch, with the exception of Cinema Studies. (In any case, Tisch doesn’t offer a directing major.) A CAS student who wants to double major in Tisch has to first transfer to Tisch and then apply to double major in CAS. (Tisch students - with the exception of Cinema Studies - are not subject to MAP requirements, so if you for some reason end up going this route and take lots of MAP requirements in your freshman year you will probably not be able to double major anyway.)

You can minor in any of the following: [Minors: Tisch School of the Arts at NYU](<a href=“Special Programs”>Special Programs) , as well as Cinema Studies, Applied Theater, Art and Public Policy, and BEMT. You can take any of the Tisch Open Arts classes, as well as any classes that are available to non-majors. I can’t say for the other departments, but Film/TV summer classes are open to all students.

I can’t say if it’s a bad thing to be undecided, since I was a Tisch student from the beginning. But I can see it being difficult to change majors late in the game, and I don’t think I’ve met a single person at NYU who is undecided - they normally have something in mind even if they haven’t declared it, and they sometimes declare it even before taking any classes that count towards the major.
