So, NYU Tisch is definitely one of the top schools I’d like to go to, but I’m worried that I don’t know enough about dance to get in… I’ve been in over 13 productions since I was 8 years old (I’m now 17), and I am heavily involved in the community, being President of 3 clubs (with a normal position in another), and I do 3 sports a year and have a cumulative weighted GPA of 3.67 and am currently doing the IB Diploma at my school. Do you think I would be able to get into NYU Tisch even if I haven’t being doing dance for that long? I’ve been doing some dance work for the last semester (and I took dance for another semester in the 7th grade)…
Have you checked on the website? That seems like a question that would be answered there. If not, I’d ask the school. They must have info.
Honestly it sounds cliche but I am telling you that you’re going to have to ignore everyone else’s accomplishments and figure out how to sell yours. I’ve had no training in dancing, singing, or acting, and I got a callback. I’m chunky. I wore jeans and converse while everyone else wore suits and dresses. Being true to who you are MATTERS.
