NYU Tisch Drama

Hello!
I was wondering if I had what it takes to get into NYU Tishc for Drama.
I currently have a pretty poor GPA due to having dyscalculia. My foreign language, history, English, and art classes all have high grades. I took AP World History for two years, AP US history, AP Euro, AP English, and honors bio. I scored very high in the nation Latin exam and very well above average in all NY state regents exams, finishing the exams required for a Honors Regents Diploma.
I failed chemistry and geometry, but am planning on retaking the class to raise my GPA.
Also, I plan to use the rest of my senior year to bring my GPA up to a 3.3.
Also, I am homeschooled using the K12 program, so the timetable for accomplishing all this is very flexible.
In addition, I plan on taking the ACT, which I am hoping to score high on as I have help from many tutors.
I trained at The Barrow Group, The Public Theater, and The Museum of Moden Art (with internships here) in acting or performing arts since 2009. I have been in off and off off Broadway productions with various companies here in New York. I have been in two musicals, Godspell and West Side Story.
I know that I have a great professional resume in terms of acting.
I know I can do a stunning audition.
But does the rest of my portfolio have a shot?

Get yourself some great references and work on an outstanding supplemental, especially the essay. Your acting experience should count for a lot. Make contact with an admissions officer.

I have some really good references so far with one on the way from an NYU Graduate School alum. Some info I completely forgot to add to my original post, by the way: I just took three subject tests with scores above 700 and I’m Hispanic. If that changes anything, haha!
When you say to get in contact with an admissions officer (which is advice I’ve seen given before) what exactly do you mean?

NYU/Tisch is what is known as a “50-50” Theater school. The term is somewhat misleading, but it means that students have to pass academic muster, as well as an audition. You did not mention just how poor your grades were, but if you are close to a 3.3 unweighted GPA, and your test scores are passable, you probably would not be automatically disqualified academically. You could have a GPA of over 4.0 and 2400/36 test scores, however, and they won’t matter if your audition doesn’t blow the auditors away. At this point, you should probably be focusing more on your audition(s). If you plan to apply ED to Tisch, you should have already set up an audition slot. If doing RD, then will you also be applying/auditioning for other BFA programs? I suggest that you go over to the Theater/Drama majors section of this site for more assistance. It is absolutely impossible to “chance” anyone for Tisch Drama, because so much of the admission process is based on subjective talent reviews. Tisch does have higher academic standards than many BFA programs, nevertheless. It is a grueling, fiercely-competitive process, and you need lots of back-up options, including non-audition BA programs. Good luck!
