Hello!
I am currently a junior, looking at NYU. I love to write, particularly theatrical scripts and scenes. I am interested in one day publishing as a playwright. I have good grades, a 2100+ SAT, and (I’d like to think) fairly good extracurricular activities, so I am looking at NYU Tisch Dramatic Writing. My questions are:
- Does anyone know the acceptance rate to the dramatic writing program? Would it be more worth my time to apply for CAS and major in English (probably minor in creative writing)?
- What exactly are they looking for in the samples? How many should I send in?
- What is life like as a student at NYU Tisch (probably one of the biggest dream schools for performing artists in the country)? Do Dramatic Writing students associate much with the actors/singers/triple threats?
- Does the program focus more heavily on screenwriting or playwriting? Playwriting is my interest.
- Can Dramatic Writers cross-major in English at CAS?
- Also, just out of plain curiosity, what is life like in the Village? What is the general atmosphere like?
Answers are appreciated! Thank you!
