NYU (Tisch Film and Televison) Transfer Chances

Applying to Tisch's Film and Television program

Current College : University of Kansas

College GPA : 4.0 (but I'm only a second semester freshman)

First semester courses and credit hours : French 110 (5), Freshman Honors English (3), Calc 115 (3), and Art History Ancient through Medieval (3)

Second semester: French 120 (5), Physics 114 (4), Art History : Renaissance through Modern (3), and Physical Anthropology (4)

Second semester grades: for sure nothing below a B, hoping for straight A's again, we'll see? I don't think they'll matter so long as I don't get below a B

Involvement: A little bit of GSA stuff, but essentially nothing, I didn't joing any clubs really

Essays: Very very specific, cited professors, programs, etc.

Rec: Good, I hope, got it from a professor I knew as well as possible and had a ridiculously high grade with (Knew I wanted my rec from art history)

Tisch Supplemental: Resume very qualified I think, Dramatic Essay made everyone who read it crack up but not inappropriate, Portfolio that I'm very proud of, and also I sent in 10 prints of paintings, even though the app said you should only send in one media (I dunno, I worked my ass off learning to paint for 5 years, I've been doing film for 2, I wanted to show my stronger stuff and more applicable stuff)

High School Stuff (Here's where it gets messy)

SAT: 1550 (800 M 750 V)

SAT II's: None

ACT: 32 composite, 31 English

GPA: 3.05 UW 3.35 W, messed up, got a D in gym (I know, how laughable) along with Honors Algebra II, and a bunch a bunch of Cs

BUT: Senior year first semester 4.2 second semester 4.17 (a B or two though, AP's when available, UW it was like a 3.8 or so)

High school involvement: Debate state champion, also ranked 3rd in the state overall two consecutive years, President of Gay Straight Alliance, Forensics with a top rating at state fest, 1st place at a regional forever ago in Academic Decathlon

Oh, and I applied last year and did not get in. Not sure if that has much/any positive or negative affect.

Wow, I made that too long. But yeah, thoughts? Am I still screwed from bad high school grades?
