I’m currently a high school freshmen in Pittsburgh and i’d just kill to get accepted to NYU for Film & Television (directing). I’ve had some experience with film. I had a supporting role in the movie The Road with Viggo Mortensen and have taken dozens of acting and film classes at the casting agencies in the city. Also, I have a 3.6 GPA and take all advanced courses in my school but I struggle the most with math. I have not taken the SATs yet though. I’m in youth group at my Catholic church & I have dozens of hours of community service and I plan on getting more (of course). In 2009 I organized a coat drive for the poor and I collected over 150 coats. I do soccer and track (played Varsity for soccer). I make short movies constantly with iMovie and plan on getting an internship at one of the casting agencies in the city. Also, I am the football team’s videographer & I make a highlight reel to music the school day after. I’m going to be my town’s fall festival photographer as well. I’m just obsessed with film general. We’re visiting the campus in Spring & will try and get an interview as well. Also, I’m planning on applying Early Decision. Will some of this stuff give me an extra edge in getting accepted? If not can you give me some tips? I’ll really appreciate a response. Thanks!

I wonder if the Drama forum would have some ideas about film? You have the singer-dancer people here! :)

sechlerchris…I’ in about the same boat as you.
I would estimate I have a 3.5 GPA, struggling with Math. I want to go to Tisch as well, for TV and Film, screenwriting specifically.
I am sure you know of it, but Emerson College in Boston has man more majors available in the category of media and video production. May want to check that out, and their admission standards are not as high either. It is regarded as one of the best Film studies colleges in the region.
