D got her assignment to Atlantic and is very happy .
I for one don’t understand the logic of not telling the student prior to decision day on what studio they will be attending .
Like many of the parents on this forum my D also has focused on MT training .
This is a new challenge for her and she is up for it because she sees the benefit of a NYU education and the success of the program .
I have suggested a minor in dance if she wants to continue dancing and tie it into her acting concentration .
Any Atlantic parents on here who can share their experience ?
Hey @vegasdad777 - I’m a Tisch parent and honestly, I don’t get it either. There’s a discussion of studio assignments on the main Theatre board.
I don’t think any of the NYU rising freshman parents have kids in Atlantic but you might want to post there and see.
@vegasdad777, your daughter may want to consider continuing her dance instruction at one of the numerous excellent private studios. My son ( who was in Playwrights) did this and appreciated having the ability to attend or not attend the dance class depending on his theater schedule.
Atlantic is a very well respected studio. Congrats to your daughter. I bet she’ll love it.
@vegasdad777 My D was in Atlantic several years ago. This was back in the days when they asked applicants to specify a particular choice of studio, and it was the one most requested for those not interested in CAP21. It’s an excellent studio and I imagine she will love it like the vast majority of her predecessors did. My D has worked continuously in theatre since graduating, with no ‘day job’, as have many of her studio mates. Many Atlantic kids also double majored, including my D. I don’t know if that’s still the case but my guess is that if they choose kids for this studio in the same way they did back then, it’s probably still the case.
I agree with @jasmom re: taking dance at one of the private studios. This is a common choice for Tischies who want to continue with dance.
