College Majors Theater/Drama Majors

<p>As we narrow down schools to make a decision, it would be extraordinarily helpful to have some specific and personal (not what we can read on the website) information about the different acting studios at Tisch. What are the main differences? Size? Personality of the the studio? Pros? Cons? Faculty? Etc. I realize that much of this will be based on fit and personal opinion but I have benefitted so much from the experience and wisdom of CC'ers thus far that I'm hoping for more information. Anyone?</p>

<p>@hermomma, you should do a search. I know this was discussed extensively last year and probably in earlier years as well. </p>

<p>Once your daughter has her studio assignment at Tisch, you will need to learn everything you can about that studio to ensure that it would be a good fit. The best way to do this would be to visit that studio and/or talk to as many students as possible from there.</p>

<p>The main difference among the studios is that some of them focus on a particular approach to training (Strasberg, Meisner, Adler, Atlantic), whereas ETW and Playwrights Horizons offer a more broad-based training. ETW focuses on physical theatre, which is extremely popular these days.</p>

<p>My son was accepted at Tisch and placed in Adler, After visiting there and talking to a student and an alumna, he decided against Tisch. </p>
