NYU Tisch vs. Emerson for Film Production

I have recently been accepted to both of my top choices to study film production: Emerson College in Boston, MA, and New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. NYU Tisch seems to have a stronger alumni network in independent feature filmmaking (which is what I would like to pursue), whereas Emerson seems to have more alumni working in the television field. I dearly love Emerson, mainly because I really enjoyed the tour/the people there were so friendly. When I toured NYU last summer, I did not get the best feel; no one was allowed to see the inside of any of the facilities and the people weren't too friendly. I love the whole idea of going to Emerson, but think NYU would be a better choice for what I would like to pursue in the film industry. In a nutshell, I love Emerson's environment, but know that NYU has a better program. Any input on either program/advice for which school I should choose would be really helpful! Thanks!

(I'm visiting NYU again in a few weeks, so perhaps my opinion will change)!

Can you give us (tuition+ R&B) - (grants+scholarships) = ?
What’s your parents’ budget?

Emerson =$45,000 including room and board
NYU- $60,000 including room and board
My parents don’t mind sending me to either school!

@ipy422 is this mentioned fee is for a year or complete degree?

My son also accepted to both Emerson Film and Tisch Film. He got the dean’s merit scholarship from Emerson. He would be happy at either school, loved the spirit at Emerson – everyone seems so genuinely friendly and happy there! The semester in LA is a big draw, as well. Son spent last summer at NYU Tisch for their film program for high school students and just loved it. Made lots of friends and grew to love NYC. He is leaning towards NYU at this moment because of the Big Apple and the many friends he’d have at Tisch, but not loving the general ed requirements at NYU. We live in the suburbs of Boston so NYC is more exciting. Go where you think you’ll be happier. Both schools are awesome, have great alumni networks and amazing internship opportunities! It’s what you put into it that will matter. Good luck to you!

@garlix‌ Thanks so much, your feedback is super helpful. Good luck to your son!
@1Pakistan‌ those are the prices of one year of tuition…they aren’t the cheapest schools haha.
