Has anyone here done it? I am a high school senior right now denied from both Berkeley and LA but accepted to NYU. Of course, I might just like NYU and stay there but I want to prepare myself for a potential transfer.

My main question is...do I absolutely need 60 semester credits for them to look at my application. Will they not look at it if I have 40 or 45? (I am thinking a possible 1 year transfer)

Secondly, can I take AP tests in college so I can grab some more units?

yes
yes

get a high GPA, finish major prereqs and GE.

UCs generally accept only Junior level transfers (at least 60 units). Keep in mind that not all of your units will transfer. But you will also have a unit limit on you as well. Unfortunately, there is no way to know what courses will be considered UC transferable and which won’t or which courses will fill what requirements. It’s pretty unlikely that you will be accepted as an OOS transfer. If you really want to go to one these schools, you should go to a California CC.

If you really wanna go to UCLA or UCB, go to a CCC

what everyone said go to a ccc, not only do your chances of getting in increase ten fold but you will be saving so much money. nyu is overpriced.
