Hi there, everybody!
I created a college confidential just for this discussion. I realized there was a Fall 2018 one, but no 2019 one to my research. Please discuss below you stats! Mine are:
(Community) College GPA: 3.8
SAT: 1550/1600
HS GPA: 2.4 (LOL IK…I had a really bad HS experience and am lucky to have graduated)
Other: Work 25hr/week at a diner I’ve worked at since 2016, and I’m going to volunteering at an organization I found recently.
I’m part of my community college’s honor club/society/whatever you want to call it.
Thanks, and I hope you enjoy discussing below! Let me know about your own stats and NYU/NYC stories.
Thanks for your honesty. If you don’t mind me asking, why don’t you think I’ll get in?
If NYU is like your truelove college, then I think you should try it at least. What’s your major?
@hopefullyinnyc I really don’t know enough about NYU to chance you, but your college GPA and SAT scores are impressive! Thanks for making this thread!
I’m applying to CAS. My stats are:
-GPA: 4.0 at a US top 70 (public) school, double majoring (political science and economics) and in the honors college
-Dean’s list for both of my completed semesters
-ACT: 32
-HS GPA: my high school used a strange GPA system that I still don’t understand, but on a 4.0 unweighted scale it would be around a 3.9 I think. I also took 7 AP classes and passed the exams.
-graduated in the top 3% of my high school class
Other things:
-In high school, I was captain of my cross country team, ran track, was on leadership for NHS, and did other similar (and fairly insignificant) things.
-I’ve worked at my family’s small cafe for about four years.
-I’m a regular volunteer at a soup kitchen near my college and hometown.
-I did a semester-long study abroad based in Serbia, where I learned to conduct research, economic analysis, and political analysis. I also volunteered occasionally at a small NGO as an English teacher for refugees stuck in Serbia.(Awesome experience!! Seriously everyone study abroad if you can!!! I think I’ll reference my experiences in this study abroad in my application essays).
-I plan to work on a group research project with a professor in the fall.
-I’m a member of my school’s international relations club but it only meets like once every two weeks so it’s not very impressive.
English for the moment however that might be subject to change. My real true love is premed, as I want to become a surgeon of some sorts. The reasoning behind English as the major is that English majors score higher than any other major on the MCAT, and also I would love a career in journalism if being a doctor doesn’t work out!
Thank you so much for telling me to chase it!
Hi everyone! I’m looking to transfer to nyu for fall 2019. If you have any advice please do share it here! Thank you in advance!
When transferring after freshman year of college, does your first year college grades matter more than your high school grades or not since it’s only one year?
Hey all here is a bit about myself. sophomore here from a top 40 school.
Applying to CAS
College GPA: 3.41 but my GPA has been increasing every semester by a large amount (3.8 this semester with 7 classes)
Major: Computer Science and International Relations – Double Major
ACT: 34
HS GPA: around a 3.4
Internships:
Software Engineering Intern at 2 startups during summer 2018
Currently an Automation Engineering Intern at a fortune 300 company

Has anyone heard anything back?
Here are my stats,
International / Asian / Male
GPA: 3.53(would rise after this semester)
Major GPA: 3.75(also would rise)
Applying to CAS : Math
My current major is closely related to EE and I would want to change my major to CS by transferring to NYU. However, my GPA is not that competitive so I choose to apply to Math and declare the joint major Math & CS after if I get admitted.
@cluuuuuuu My stats is identical to yours!
Sophomore International/Asian/Male
GPA: 3.5 (probability won’t change after this semester)
Applying to CAS: Math
ECs:
Participated in an Applied Math Research Program in CU this summer
Member of Chamber Orchestra (playing violin)
Published a research essay in our school’s academic journal
Will publish a personal photography book before sending application
My major in current University is Math and Computer Science and I choose to apply as Math major because it seems to be less selective comparing with a joint major (and yes, I will also consider to declare the joint major again if I am admitted). My stats is not competitive and I got few 70s in previous midterms. I am expecting to have around 20% possibility to get in, but it is still worth trying even I was being rejected 2 years ago. I encourage everyone to post their stats because many of you are doing better than me, don’t be afraid!

My best letter of ref is coming from a professor last semester that basically encouraged me to transfer, and I know it will be a strong letter. She is also an NYU doctoral alumna. The second is from another professor, but won’t be as strong. My essays are very well-written and clearly convey my reasons for transferring/objectives I hope to achieve. I am also going to have a professional letter of ref from the executive director of internship; she is also an NYU alumna.
Here are the other schools I am applying to (in no order):
Barnard
Columbia
Brown
Yale
Georgetown
George Washington University
American University
Penn
Hello all. I’m currently a freshman from Prairie View A&M University applying for Fall 2019 to Gallatin.
I currently have a 3.6 GPA with 15 credits. I’m taking 18 hours this semester and hoping to have a 3.8 at the end.
In High School, I had a 3.3 weighted (I know), and 1120 SAT (Again, I know).
I’m currently a member of three clubs at PV but haven’t had the best experience so it hasn’t added much to my extracurriculars.
Most of my extracurriculars came from High School. I was in Rotary Interact, HOSA, Softball (2 years), and took a dual credit EMT course. AP classes, but no special grades.
Chances?

Letter of recommendations are from a past mentor from when I studied abroad, high school counselor, a professor I took last semester, and an elementary school principal I know personally.
Chances?
Hey guys! Just find out that there isn’t a transfer thread for fall 2019 so here I create one.
Please put down information about yourself
Wish y’all good luck and can study in your dream school!!
