nyu transfer chances

does nyu weight the school you are transferring from?

in other words, i am transferring from a school ranked higher than nyu ( wake forest univ)

i have a 3.4 here as a 2nd sememser freshman

i have a 1470 on my sats, 780 sat2 chem, 740 sat2 math, 700 writing

wake sucks.

my essay was decent, my transfer rec from my prof was great.

my hs gpa was like top 15% .

what do you guys think

You've got pretty solid chances depending on the college you're transfering into

unless you are trying for stern, you should get in. i wouldnt worry at all a 3.4 from a school like wake is very respectable

So is NYU not all that selective? I mean, I think Wake is very respectable, but I have a 3.4 with a pretty tough courseload from CU Boulder (I am NOT trying to claim that it is near as respectable as Wake) and "solid chances" were not what I was told.

well you are getting your chances from a bunch of random people, the only person who would really know is adcom.

you have a great shot

Even to Stern I would put your chances well above 70%.
Good luck

i think u can def get in, its really unfortunate that you couldn't break that 3.5 barrier, that seems like the "cut-off" mark from what i was told

I think that's for freshman, at least it was last year when I applied. I would think the cut-off would be lower for transfers because it's a college GPA

i wouldn't say 70% for stern. how come wake sucks?

i am sorry to hear that wake sucks, but i would definitely make sure you are 100% sure about transferring to nyu. it's going to be VERY different...

i am a freshmen

i am applying to CAS

there is another girl from my high school that came to wake and shes applying to NYU cas too.. she had a better gpa in hs and she has a 3.7 now.

does that matter?

also...im taking 17 credits this sem

also...wake is ranked 27 vs nyu 35...so dont u think that matters?

Good luck, but I don't think that NYU is going to be overly impressed with a school that is only eight places higher than they are in a ranking (which ranking, by the way?). I'm not trying to be discouraging, honestly. Wake is renowned and NYU will know that, and it will matter, I think, but it doesn't necessarily mean that they'll be dying to accept you. In my humble opinion, a 3.4 is solid, and you look like you have a shot. I just wouldn't count on the ranking thing.

us-news

but u have a point.

but thats where all my other **** comes into play.

im researching with my prof on making biodiesel from algae(revolutionary **** man)

so we'll see

bump ?

Whats your roll in that research? cleaning beakers?

no actually im heading the entire deal

im growing algae right now and writing a paper on maximizing their oil yeild.

Is it just me, or is the word "beaker" not one of the most awesomistic in the English language?

Am I the only one who find it hard to believe that this guy is leading some kind of "revolutionary" research?

If you're involved in such a drastic project, why in the world would you consider transferring?
