Hi everyone, I’m applying to CAS as a comp sci major. I’m a freshman, my college GPA is a 3.7 but I’m super scared because of my SAT score which is 1300. I have good HS ec’s and a GPA of 3.5. I only joined 1 club in college. I submitted my application but going over it I noticed a mistake on one of the essays, where there is supposed to be a comma for some reason a question mark appears. I am super stressed because of this and because of my low SAT. I was waitlisted last year during my senior year. I hear that tandon is easier to get into then CAS, I listed that as my backup along with Gallatin and stern. I think my essays are really good and my recommendation should be decent. I know people get into NYU with lower SAT’s but I’m really having like panic attacks because of this lol. Do I have a decent chance?
@r34skylinegtr I don’t know much about transfers but logically if you were waitlisted last year your SAT clearly wasn’t a dealbreaker, and your college gpa has improved noticeably since high school. I’d think you should have a reasonable chance. Good luck!
Hey guys whats up? I’m applying to NYU as well for a junior transfer in fall 2019 from the University of Toronto for Computer Science. My GPA is 4.0, SAT is 1470, released multiple games on the Play Store, Pearson Scholar, established author, and have launched a startup. What are my chances?
does anyone know when the decisions will be released?
@kmalin looking at the other forms some received decisions within the first week from April 1st, they’re released on a rolling basis, however.

Hey everyone,
I applied to NYU CAS for Economics. I did a stint at USC (and technically still go there) but I am back at my CC this semester because I am looking to transfer. I’ve got a 3.7 GPA and didn’t like USC because I’m from the east coast; needless to say, I understand why people who love NYC tend to hate LA, and vice versa. The west coast and USC were both a poor fit for me, so hopefully this works out.
Anyone know anything about the kind of need based aid they award at NYU? I’ve received a ton of mixed answers, but whether or not I would consider attending is completely dependent on aid. My EFC is 0, so I would hope to receive something decent if admitted, but who knows.
Other schools I applied to: UNC-CH, Boston U, Northeastern, Syracuse (but will return to USC if none of these work out, fingers crossed they do)
Best of luck to everyone else!

Hi guys! I am applying as a transfer to NYU from Boston College but I decided to do so somewhat late. At my current university, I am a psychology major on the premed track. At NYU, I hope to major in neural science. The classes here are very large here so I was never able to get acquainted with my professors as well as I wanted to for my science courses such as biology and chemistry, despite doing well in the classes. That being said I was able to get one recommendation from my first-year writing seminar professor as the class was much much smaller than my other classes, but I am kind of stumbled on how to get another recommendation especially with little time. Also, for the midterm report, do I just go to my professors and ask them to put my current grade and sign off, then proceed to email or fax that to NYU?
I got an email from NYU saying that they are in the process of reviewing my application but they were missing the college report and midterm. Anyone else got an email about missing information? Kinda caught me off guard because I thought NYU started reviewing applications after April 1st.
Does anyone have an idea of when they are going to start releasing decisions? They are releasing regular decision for first-year applicants today.
@jakecap1123 In the thread last year, people started receiving decisions around April 9! CAS decisions seem to be the first to be released, and Stern decisions are the last.
@taylor99 yikes that is so soon! ok, now a mixture of excitement and pure anxiety has overwhelmed me. #violetpride
Hey, guys! New to CC
I applied to NYU Steinhardt for music business!
Here’s some info I know many applicants asked on past years’ threads
Submitted my Steinhardt audition/artist review on Dec 31 and my Common App on Jan 4. I received my Albert login about 2 days later. NYU received my college transcript 11/19/2018, HS transcript 12/05/2018, college report 01/24, SAT scores 03/27, and it wasn’t until 03/15 that Albert reflected my Steinhardt artistic review. They updated Albert on 03/03 with an “academic evaluation” ?? I’m assuming they were evaluating my transfer credits?
Here are my stats for anyone who is interested:
White female, 22 y.o., lower-middle class, first-generation
I’m a non-traditional student (took 3 years off after high school)
Currently enrolled in a pretty unknown public college in Georgia
Current GPA: 4.0
Will only be transferring with 24 credits
Took 3 years off after HS and worked full-time as a music video editor/assistant director and content creator for major music festivals. I have worked with artists such as Bassnectar, Magic City Hippies, Coast Modern, the list goes on… I’ve also had the opportunity to film the 50th anniversary celebration of the Recording Academy’s Atlanta Chapter + celebration of the Georgia Musical Investment Act
I felt my Why NYU essay was pretty strong. Talked about very specific offerings within the music business program (internships w Village Records, certain professors I would be eager to learn from, etc.)
But here’s where my application takes a major hit…
I experienced some pretty serious issues within my home while attending high school which resulted in a poor HS performance. At times, I wasn’t even allowed to work on my studies. I graduated with a 2.0 GPA and my SAT score is 1020… (I’m honestly so embarrassed about those stats). However, I did explain within one of my essays the circumstances I was presented with.
Feel free to “chance me” or offer feedback. I’m open to brutal honesty lmao
@thispersonsthat The academic evaluation is the recommendation letter sent by a professor/advisor!
@jakecap1123 I called admissions today and they said mid-April through June! He said they have to wait until they know which accepted applicants will be matriculating into NYU before they can release decisions for transfer applicants. I know NYU encourages accepted applicants to accept/decline their offer of admission within 2 weeks so we could start finding out 2 weeks from today eeeee
@taylor99 ahh thank you!!
Did anyone here get waitlisted as a senior in highschool? I noticed my materials from senior year started to show up on my portal again… wondering what this means
My dd applied to Gallatin school. She is currently a freshman at a mid sized jesuit school out west. She got a 3.85 her first semester, 3.9 HS GPA and 31 ACT. I think her why transfer and why Gallatin essays really explained her reasons well. I hope she gets accepted but it seems like based on all the info from previous years - seems like a 50/50 chance. I hate the waiting game! Good luck to everyone.
Is anyone else’s portal saying NYU is missing their High Schools College Transcript? What does that even mean??
