NYU Transfer Fall 2021

yeah I I had two letters of rec from college professors

I submitted a screenshot of my Winter 2021 grades (from my unofficial transcript), current Spring 2021 grades, and my Common App Mid-Term Report (for W21 grades)

How does NYU normally inform transfer students, individually and collectively, about their decisions? I believe decisions will be disclosed through the student portal, but do students receive an email? Are decisions posted on any website?

you receive an email that you have an update on your portal

I’m hoping a bunch of you all get good news today or tomorrow!! I know my daughter (Tisch) will most likely not hear until mid May at earliest but I’m watching the forum and cheering you all on!

We should do a roll call on here with CC name, college in NYU applying to, when you submitted your app and when you get a decision if anyone is interested. I could compile the results. It would help future applicants from having to scroll through a gazillion pages of forum posts LOL!

I was on the music major forum at CC for a long time. We had someone that would compile kids info into one big post. It was great. We would have info at hand starting with the CC name, kid’s instrument and major, all of the colleges they applied to, when they got their audition and when they got their decision. It’s been going for years and was super helpful to musician kids and parents as the years moved on. These schools are all very close with dates etc from year to year.

If you all want me to compile a list like this so we can all see decisions and school if someone misses a post just PM me with your info and I’ll start one.

How do we know decisions are being released this week? I thought they were being released later

We don’t. But in years past some decisions for some programs were released this week. I posted this earlier on April 8 from a couple years ago and I think a lot of this info has stayed consistent from year to year. Which is why I think a post with everyone’s info and when they get a decision would be useful. Also if you are internal versus external transfer. This was a post regarding 2018 decisions.

04/05/18 – CAS/Gallatin/Steinhardt (not MCC) acceptances
04/15 – 04/17/18 – CAS acceptances
04/20 – 04/24/18 – CAS rejections (mostly econ)
04/25/18 – CAS/Tandon acceptances
05/02/18 – Tisch/Gallatin acceptances and rejections
05/03/18 – Steinhardt acceptances (MCC)
05/08/18 – Tandon acceptances/ Gallatin rejections
05/15/18 – CAS (plus rejections) /Gallatin (plus rejections) /Steinhardt/Tisch acceptances
05/22/18 – Tandon acceptances/ Steinhardt (MCC) acceptances and rejections/ Stern rejections (all rejections)/CAS acceptances and rejections
05/24/18 – Stern acceptances
06/01/18 – 1 stern acceptance
06/12/18 – 1 stern acceptance"

I’m really hoping I get my decision soon enough. I’m an internal transfer to Tisch, and I’m not sure if that timeline is gonna be consistent enough to the point where I might have to wait til May, which is weird because the website did say that we’d hear in April.

Yes I think you likely will. I still think your info will be useful for other internal transfers looking at this forum next year wondering when they might hear. If you are willing provide your info like when you submitted and which program in Tisch. And then we can update when you get your decision as well. Did you apply for anything requiring a portfolio or video? Those will undoubtedly take longer to review.

Great info but this is before pandemic so a lot of things been chaged. I guess we could hear back from NYU beginning in late April.
Also, based on last year’s transfer thread, people have been getting decisions randomly starting from late april and a lot of sudents got their decisions on early to mid May.

I think a lot of the decision dates were still fairly consistent last year…

The majority got their decision on May

I can’t remember. I scrolled through seemingly a hundred pages of last year’s forum and tried to piece together decisions. Again which is why compiling a post with all of that info this year would be useful for kids following next year.

I just looked back at posts from last year on April 20 and there were definitely kids who were accepted prior to then.

Yes they were and that’s why I said “randomly” and it’s like only one or two who got their decision. I read thousands of replies from last year’s thread too and they were getting decisions randomly and majority of decisions released on May. So the decision timeline is quite different from 2018.
Not tryna tackle you but your giving hopes to everyone in this forum they might get their decision pretty soon based on 2018 before pandemic info.

No that’s not what I’m trying to do at all. I agree it’s all very random and I doubt very much any Tisch peeps will get a decision prior to May. Unless they are internal and were told they would. Not feeling tackled at all, just trying to help for future kids tbh. It’s not helpful for this year’s group but looking ahead I would guess if someone had compiled a list of applicants last year and what college they applied to, internal or external and when they got their decision it would be pretty useful for this group this year. That’s all I’m trying to do. That isn’t giving anyone false hope for this year’s decisions, just trying to get some timelines for the next wave next year.

im just anxiously waiting because nyu is my top choice but if they take too long and it’s too late to go to another school idk what im gonna do
