NYU Transfer for Spring 2013

Hi there @Tomeu11,
First off, congratulations on the admission offer!
Do you mind if I ask how do you know that our orientation will be on 24-25 Jan? Was there a packet sent?

Hey did you receive the welcome package via mail? It should include something like immunization requirement, housing instructions.etc. Thanks!

Hey @Tomeu do you the deadline for housing application? And more information on housing, like how competitive it is to get in?

@endingz
Pretty sure he just wrote that all transfer students are guaranteed housing as long as the apps are completed on time.

PLEASE read the thread before asking repetitive questions, guys. It happens to all of us, but let’s keep this focused, please. Thanks.

Hey guys,

Just found this thread when I was googling spring 2013 nyu transfer admission dates. Since I haven’t heard anything yet, I assume Tuesday is the big day for most of us. Best of luck!

I read on NYU housing site they say all incoming transfer students should pay the 1000 deposit to secure housing by 30 Nov 2012. That’s why i am asking the question. I still waiting for the package and i have no idea when it is gonna come

@endingzz
As ohmymarc pointed out, all admitted transfersare guaranteed admissions. The reason for a delay in the date is that Sandy delayed things. I was one of the first, if not the first, offered admission. That came 12 days after their supposed starting date to release decisions so it’s only normal that the housing emails come later too. Also, I received everything by email.

@deshibara
I got that information from an advisor, he said I was just the first to be admitted and so that I should not worry about enrolling in courses since the days of 24-25 of January academic advisors are fully dedicated to us.

@Tomeu11

Thank you very much for ur info. I received the email on Tue @ 930am too. I accepted the offer n paid the deposit at the same day. However since then I ve only received 2 emails one confirms my enrollment and the other provides info for account activation.

I am told i am not able the register class until I ve submitted my final transcript for this term . Is that the same for u? It can be a special case for me though considering I am a freshmen transfer.

@kneekey1 @supercolosal

Don’t worry if you have nothing in your credit transfer page yet especially if you are a freshman applicant. I still have nothing there also even I have confirmed my enrollment.
I don’t have anything for my credit transfer, not even ‘tentative’.:(

@Tomeu11 Thank you so much for the info! What is your major? Luckily for me, I got the admission offer too last thursday. Good luck to everyone!

@endingzz
I haven’t tried, but since my transfer credit shows up I got some new tabs there named “Search“ and “Enroll“. Also my Albert has a “Student“ tab besides the usual “Applicant“ tab. I have been able to look through courses for the Spring semester, I didn’t want to try tho, just in case.

@deshibasara
I’m a Psych major! Reading your pasts posts it seems your stats were pretty impressive! We have something in common, it seems we both took the IB, what a hell right? hahaha

@Tomeu11

I have it also n I tried to select some classes yesterday but it requires a permission ID to finalize the courses. So i have all the courses in my cart but not being able to actually submit the registration:( I am quite worry about it since my major-required classes (general chem II and principle Bio II) are nearly full for laboratory section:( If in the end i dont end up getting them, i m screwed.

@endingzz but since they are in your cart don’t you have like a “reserved spot“?

@Tomeu11

Most likely not. As someone who worked on another University’s class registration, most colleges allow an infinite amount of people to add the classes to their ‘carts’. The system doesn’t take anything into account until the student actually submits their preferences by actually registering for their classes.

Best bet would be to call admissions and express your concern. Chances are there will be some type of accommodation for transfer students.

arghhh i need to get into nyu so that i dont have to go to pepperdine. does anyone know how much the deposit for nyu is?

$500
and $1000 for housing

Do we need to have a certain GPA on our final transcript in order to go to NYU? Or if we got the acceptance letter does that mean we are able to go regardless of what our GPA in our final college transcript as long as we do not have Cs or Ds?

I don’t know if this is the appropriate thread but do you guys think it’s possibly to get in without completing Calculus?

@SatinderChhokar
It depends on your major and the school you apply to. I got in and I have not taken any college math, just statistics courses.

@ejh1993
I’m pretty sure that if you don’t go below a B in all your courses you will be fine

@rest of applicants
Tomorrow is Tuesday!!! I’m so excited for you guys. Hopefully I’ll read about a lot of acceptances coming out tomorrow morning. Also, if anyone gets something on housing please share; I’d like to settle that ASAP.

@Tomeu

I got the welcome package today. Nothing much abt housing info though. Transfer sdts ll live in Lafayette, greenwich and second street. And the Health forms are not there also. Guess they ll send out another mail package later to include all the forms. Maybe they r waiting for all the acceptance letters to be sent out before they mass email housing applications. But if u r eager u can start filling up the online application. It’s in NYUHome NYUlife housing form. I filled up part of the application yesterday but I didn’t submit it
