Hey I haven’t apply to NYU before, and, even though I’ve been to NYC a bunch of times, I’m visiting for the first time in the up coming week. Anyone have any suggestions about specific points of interest at NYU?

Activities (brief list): DJ on my school’s FM radio station, play a few instruments with varying degrees of mastery, work part-time, play in an alternative/reggae/indie/rock band that plays at clubs/venues occasionally.

Comments: Well, for one, I’m hoping my SATs don’t factor too much as I’m applying for junior year. Also, I’ve taken a few demanding upper lever courses in my major that show my GPA isn’t just from 100 level gen eds.

Gender: Male

In high school I was on the cheerleading team, participated in crew and the National Charity League. Post-high school years I’ve traveled extensively and I participate in competitive women’s roller derby.

Comments: I’m a-non traditional student since I took off five years before returning to school and didn’t take the SATs. I am hoping that my not having these stats will not impact me too negatively.

Comments: I attended an elite prep school until I came down with a serious illness. I was forced to withdraw from school in the middle of 11th grade and focus on my health. My brother went to NYU, and my CC has a relationship with them…I think my chances would probably be better if I waited another semester to transfer but I can’t really stand to be where I am any longer. Also, I will have very good rec’s.

Hi, does anybody know if transfer students are fully integrated in the student life ? thx

Anyone else having trouble with the “Courses” section on the Embark application? There’s only room for two semesters, but I have a Winter session as well. Should I just add those classes to the “second semester” or explain in the Additional Comments section?

@Hect0r

yes, transfer students can integrate easily into student life. there are transfer student clubs, but transfer students are encouraged to take part in fall Welcome Week events. there’s also a “club fair” in September. clubs are the quickest way to integrate into campus life.

Gender: F
State: NY
School within NYU: Gallatin

Comments: I had been WLed originally by NYU CAs, which was pretty embarassing because I consider CAS to be a low match for me at the time. In retrospect, I guess I was kind of snarky on the app. Will definitely be turning in a much better, more dedicated app this time around, although NYU isn’t my first choice.

hey, thanks for creating the thread zackthemac!

Question: can we retake the SAT/ACT exams while in college and still use it in our transfer app?

Yes, you can re-take the sat. i have called up a couple of different universities to make sure that its ok. i think it may depend on the university, however, so i would call up the admissions offfice. i believe if its your second year in college already you do not have to submit your sat’s but check to make sure
