NYU Transfer Thread - Fall 2010

my application is still “incomplete”! they told me to call by next week. is anybody in the same place as me now? this is so weird. the other 3 places i applied to have completed files of mine… only NYU is being super inefficient… UGGHHHHH

The admissions people have been cranky lately (probably due to everyone calling about their apps) I had to get pushy in order for the woman I talked to to even check my file. Btw “complete” is only in reference to your transcripts. They have to get up and look for your physical file (not the computer one) to check on anything other than transcripts. Just a heads up if you’re wondering about recs, or anything else you sent.

apparently they don’t have any of my transcripts. and i made my high school courier my documents (because it’s in India) for which someone in the admissions office even signed according to my guidance counsellor!!! and they said that they don’t have my transcripts!!! this is ridiculous!!!

Yikes, hookedongtown. That sucks. Did you tell admissions that someone signed for them? When I called and said that I basically sent everything like 3 different ways and the woman still wouldn’t look for them she eventually transferred my call to someone above her. Obviously don’t drive them crazy, but don’t be afraid to tell them you NEED something figured out. Good luck.

To those who have been accepted: did you find out how many of your credits they took? Thanks.

Javeb, yeah there’s a sheet about that in the acceptance package. It only includes credits you already have, not anything you have in progress this semester.

i am going to call again sometime later.

Are you serious? So even if my app materials status is complete now it’s not even positive if my recs and my art slides and everything else is there? I submitted them in person dangnabbit! Oh geez NYU. Also so so sorry about your high school transcript!!! I am personally frustrated for you and hope you get in eventually. What the eff is with their files clerks? :frowning: All of these missing items are stressing us out

Ajdel, how many credits did they take of what you’ve completed?

From the clerks I’ve talked to they’ve said that all they have in front of them is a computer that says your transcripts are in. When I asked about recs she said that if as they reviewed my app decided they needed to see recs and they weren’t there they would email me.

They accepted 45 of 46 - the other 1 being a single credit course I took that was specific to my current school. I was really surprised they accepted it all, as I’ve heard they’re pretty bad about transferring credits. I’m probably not going to NYU though. They gave me pretty good aid, but I received better elsewhere. It’s a great school, but not worth incredible amounts of debt.

Was anyone here able to get their deadline pushed back (or even attempted to) for the deposit?

Thanks. I might have to call tomorrow, as they didn’t respond to both of my e-mails.

seriously at this point with all these acceptances going out I’m beginning to doubt my chances as they STILL have not received my college transcript even though I requested 2 more copies to be sent out after I found out they didn’t receive my first one. um thanks nyu…

@Javeb: I’m pretty sure that the file clerks will know if your recommendations were in or not. At least, that’s what one of them told me; mine were in.

i called NYU today and it took forever. they didnt havent receive my hs transcript yet. this is crazy!!

wow, that’s so messed up.

I haven’t called yet, but I’m starting to think I should just to check if they have everything. I have a feeling they’re going to be so annoyed though with the heavy call volume & all…

We have to call to see if we’re missing anything? They don’t send out e-mails for missing materials like everybody else?

@transferstudent2

Apparently they don’t notify you.
You have to call and find out…very messed up.

I sent my transcript four times…

qiangouzi/ It means they lost ur transcript three times?

yeah, it’s nuts. If you HAVEN’T called to see if they have everything, I would definitely suggest doing it. They’re all very nice people that work there for the most part, and they won’t be annoyed to answer whether at least all your transcripts are in.
