NYU Transfer Thread - Fall 2010

it usually means they’re interested in your application.

I don’t think I’m getting in. So very afraid. ):

My high school performance wasn’t too good, no ECAs shown (stupid international school, I was in choir) although my end examinations translated to a 3.97GPA in American standards. My first semester of college wasn’t too well either so the fact that they haven’t asked for mid-term yet means I’m definitely out. ):

it seems like no one on CC has gotten decisions within this wk

good luck for all of us

Which school are you applying to?
And them asking you for grades is a good sign, if anything at all. It shows that they’re atleast considering your application seriously.

i provided mid-term grades with my app, to boost my GPA, even though they never asked for them.

I also sent midterm grades without them asking. I was accepted today over the phone :)

Would you mind posting your stats/school, Javeb?

I’m too much of a chicken to call in. A rejection over the phone would be unbelievably awkward for all parties involved…

javeb, how did you get them to tell you over the phone??

lol yeah, how’d you get them to do that. they NEVER say ANYTHING over the phone lol

You lucky son of a, Javeb.

): What are my chances? 1300/1920 SAT, barely any ECAs (chess club vice president only and music achievements outside school). College GPA of only about 3.6. And well, great/good shot/a little above average essays.

Well what school are you applying to? That makes a gigantic difference.

I wouldn’t be too worried if they don’t ask for your midterm grades, unless your grades are relatively low in comparison with what is considered a “competitive applicant”. There are a wide variety of reasons as to why an admissions committee would or would not ask for your grades.

It’s all out of our hands and still up in the air until the decision letter comes, so my advice is to just be patient. They tell us that they’ll contact us if they need anything for a reason.

wow. welll i just called to explain my case that i’m not going to be home either for the next 2 weeks… and he asked for my name and everything… and when he looked it up he was like “uhh well, … it says its still under review but we will have a decision at some pt. next week and we can email it to you if you want since u won’t be home” … i dono what to think of that, the slight hesitation in the beginning sounded like that means he couldn’t tell me i got rejected over the phone. hah. but i guess we’ll see

I called the admissions office today and after literally harassing the admissions rep. i got her to tell me that they sent out a letter on the 5th. i then asked her if it was a letter or a packet and she said the information she was looking at doesn’t specify which it was, but i think she was just lying !!! but i have no idea

ugh does that mean I didn’t get in ??? I’m SO nervous !!

NYU is the last school to notify me … they just take their lovely time and its killing me !!

To McGill, I’m applying to CAS. First choice international relations, second choice philosophy. I can PM you my essays if you don’t mind reading them.

Oh, well, CAS is the second-hardest to get into after Stern, and Tisch for some degree paths, and I would love to read your essays but I’m really no expert. I only responded to your question because I was admitted to CAS last year as a freshman, so I guess I kind of know what they’re looking for in regards to the typical candidate. I don’t think my personal strengths were my essays, however, because English isn’t my first language.

hahaha i did that net id thing and i got in!!!

lol, CONGRATS!!!

THAT’S AMAZING! :)

guys, is it for certain if u can log in to the intranet and get a NETID, you’re in?

Hell yes!!!
