Yes, I understand what you’re saying, but the fact that it’s not as difficult to get into (statistically speaking), means nothing in regard to the calibre of staff and intelligence of the student body (not just for UMich, but any school). NYU has a bigger name, more debt in the future, but brilliant connections if you want to work in the city. They each have their pros and cons; none of which have anything to do with the quality of academics.

What I was trying to say was that in general, if someone were to say they went to NYU and another said they went to UMich, very few would think that either one of them went to a better school than the other. They’re both pretty equal. Besides, it’s not wise to pick a school just based on the name…especially since we’re all transfers and a lot of people are in this situation to begin with because we made that same mistake last year.

NYU > UMich. Definitely. UMich is a much bigger school–I would recommend visiting Ann Arbor if you haven’t already. I think it’s comparable to Madison.

no all i did was tell them I needed to know so I could tell another school if i was coming or not and the admissions counselor asked me for my social security # and then told me that I was admitted to Stern

HS GPA uneweighted: 3.5ish
College GPA: 4.0, first semester freshman (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign)
EC: class president, 2 sport varsity athlete, a TON of community service projects
SAT: 1220 (math + reading)
and what I though were GREAT essays

if you want to see my essays just reply and ill email them…

Rankings are messed up. It’s hard to take any ranking seriously if it places schools like Vanderbilt, CMU and Notre Dame ahead of a school like Georgetown. That’s just WRONG!

Hi, I am a NYU CAS accepted transfer. But my packet was lost. I called the office, they said that If I were planning to attending, I should mail a check of 800 dollars to Kelly. Does anyone who received a packet knows that? Or could it be done through credit card online? Thank u very much=)

hi guys been following this thread for a few days, finally decided to register. anyway, I called today and actually got thru to an admission officer instead of a file clerk. Was told that my file is still under review. Few of my friends applied last year and all received decisions around May 15, I guess they’re really slow this year. They told me I will receive a decision by June 1st for sure. (my netid doesnt work ! )btw I applied as junior transfer to CAS economics. gluck to all
