NYU Transfer Thread - Fall 2010

i got my net ID today
and then i got exctied for 10 secons
and then I was like oh wait
it doesn’t mean I got in.-_-

I got my acceptance package…didn’t get any fin aid info? where did you guys find it?

i am transferring into tisch…anyone in the same boat as me?

seriously Im getting more frustrated because of that…
they also told me that my decision would be made by 1June…
for no reason, I doubt that…

@studentABC:

I’m totally with you on that. 1 June is so far away. From what I’ve gathered, everyone has received their notification by around 15 May in the past. This leads me to wonder; how many people applied this year?!

My acceptance letter said there were 5,300 applicants.

since apparently the acceptance letters state the number of applicants, from anyone that got accepted to stern, how many people applied to stern this year

hmm…5300 is not high at all.

i called in today again, AND email AGAIN. My app is still under review. I cannot make any summer plans before knowing the decision!!!

I called yesterday. They said call them back on Friday to find out if they made a decision. Does anyone know how competitive is NYU’s Philosophy program for admission?

It wasn’t clear from my letter whether 5300 was for all transfers or just Gallatin? But it would be pretty high just for Gallatin, so idk.

CAS applicant here! I still haven’t heard back yet and I’m getting really anxious…especially after being rejected from Barnard and Columbia. I live on Long Island and didn’t want to be extremely far away from home; I love the city and thought it would be perfect to be a short train ride from home. I didn’t apply to any other schools in the city besides NYU, Barnard, and Columbia. I’ve also been rejected from the other schools that are a 3-4 hour car ride from home; I applied to a lot of schools that have a 4-10% acceptance rate, so I kind of expected this. I’ve been accepted to a few good schools, they just happen to be pretty far from NY. Anyway, I visited NYU and really loved it. Unfortunately my college transcript never got to NYU because the person I handed my transcript request form must have misplaced it or forgot about it? So I didn’t realize until the beginning of May that it was missing and I tried to get it to them ASAP. I hope this doesn’t hurt my chances- I already have pretty bad ACT scores so I think my chances might be slim.

Good luck everyone. I shall post here when I hear back! (Hopefully soon!)

Hold up everyone, so you know how they told people that their decisions would be out by the 1st of June? Well I called them yesterday, and they told me to wait till the first WEEK of June.

Is this a joke?

Try the Net ID thing. If it works, you’ve been admitted.

It doesn’t work yet. :frowning:
But that doesn’t necessarily mean that I’ve been rejected now does it?

nope. it could mean they haven’t made a decision on your file yet. there’s also a slim possibility that it hasn’t been reviewed. but i’d rule that out since it’s pretty late now.

Good luck!

I am gussing that there are different notification deadlines for differnet schools.

@Dhruvds,

I feel your pain. there were couple of dates i heard now from constantly calling the office. june 5th, june 1st, end of this month, end of this week, etc.
you know what, screw it, i’m thinking about going down to florida for a week or so since school ended and i should not put up with this painful waiting, and at the time i’m back, maybe my mailbox will be jammed.

about the dates getting pushed back, I was told on May 10th to call back on the 15th if i hadn’t heard a decision. i didn’t and snce the 15th was a saturday, I called on the 14th and they said my app was still under review, but I could try calling next week and that it would be done by the end of that week. I called on Tuesday and they said that my app was still under review, but I could expect a decision by the end of the month. I’m a steinhardt person, also. so yeah, they keep pushing it back.

hey everyone don’t worry - they’re still making decisions. I had my app complete since the Jurrassic Period and I simply don’t care now after getting into Barnard but I called today just for kicks and for once I was transferred over to a very very nice lady (Maggie - I even remembered her name because of my astonishment) who checked my records and told me that there is no decision yet and that they should be wrapping up decisions over the next 2 weeks (are you serious) so yeah…

Just a nice surprise compared to the “YOU! WILL HEAR! FROM US! SHORTLY!!!” I got early last week.

I’ve decided to stay at my current college for another year if my first choice doesn’t work out. Therefore, I will definitely not be attending Stern. I just couldn’t see myself at NYU actually and the double transfer thing would’ve been hard to explain for next year’s application to my first choice. If any of you end up on the Stern waitlist, you now have a better chance of being accepted!

Good luck! :)

Accepted!! to Stern (as a rising Junior)
My NetId doesn’t work so don’t freak out if yours doesn’t work.
