@javakula can you please post your stats, sat score, and the classes youve taken if you dont mind thanks- raj

Like everyone else has said, decisions should be done by June. That’s what I was told when I called today. I decided to send my final transcript to them since I got a 4.0 this semester with a challenging courseload- that has to help even just a little. I don’t know if they will receive it before making a decision, but it was worth a shot.

@peacelovesarah,

lol i did the same thing, at least we tried.

@javakula

thanks! what’s your major in stern?

hey guys, I have a question

I’ve taken College Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus I, and Statistics

finance

Accepted to Neural Science! WOOHOO!

anyone here have any information on which are the better residence halls? Currently have Carlyle Court, Second Street, Greenwich, and Lafayette to choose from

Yeah, those seem to be the only 4 choices for transfers this year?

Here is the NYUNews Housing Guide. It seems kind of subjective. But they are all in very different locations, like Carlyle Court is Union Sq, Greenwich Hotel (apparently has maid service for kitchens & bathrooms) is in West Village, Lafayette is farthest from campus (but has a bus and seems to be more a party dorm? frats are there?).

Hi, I’m a transfer student here.

Carlyle Court is a nice dorm, but be warned: it’s a LOUD dorm. You are right on Union Square (which is a fantastic area, particularly if you are of drinking age, and even if you’re not) but it means that there are cars 24/7.

Greenwich Hotel is in the heart of Greenwich Village and the rooms are a little more run down. Don’t be fooled; the “maid service” is just picking up and sweeping. They also take out the garbage. It’s a real, working hotel on the bottom floor, and NYU faculty often use it. There’s a bus that runs from G-Ho, but people just walk, because walking is faster.

Lafayette was my dorm for two years. I LOVED LAFAYETTE. I had a fantastic room that had a walk-in closet and a gigantic bedroom. It’s in Chinatown, which IS a little far from campus. Buses run directly to campus every fifteen minutes in the mornings. There’s fantastic food in Chinatown and you are near a subway hub. If you’re thinking of rushing Greek Life, the Greek Life penthouses are on the upper floors. It’s very much a “transfer” dorm so there are always transfer events running in the building.

Hope this helps!

So Lafayette is quieter than Carlyle?

Any chance of a transfer getting a single?

guys
I called the admissions on 19ths that I was accepted
and still haven’t received acceptance mail yet :[
do you guys think i should call them?

The 19th was only a few days ago. They send out a lot of mail- give it until the end of this week.

Pretty much no chance of a single, there are VERY few singles in the system to begin with, unless you’re willing to pay like an extra 1500 a semester. You can call and see if you can get on the waiting list for ALUMNI HALL, which is practically all singles. It’s a small dorm, but it’s $$.

So, my netID worked, but I still haven’t gotten anything in the mail.

Bad sign? Or should I not worry since my NetID worked…

dont worry about the acceptance or denial in the mail…i still havent received my acceptance and they told me they mailed it out a week ago… just call and they will tell you

@ erikmoonwalks. i am in the same situation as you!! my NetId works. I activated it 2 weeks ago and I haven’t receieved anything in the mail yet. I called today and they told me the letters are being sent out.

Accepted as long as I study abroad for the fall semester!!!

Apparently they ran out of housing for the semester haha.

I’m going. Good luck everybody!!!

Has anyone else gotten really horrible financial aid? My family makes about 80 grand per year and they still want me to pay 40,000. There is no way my family will get behind me on this, and I don’t think I even could bring myself to go into that much debt for just two years. So long dream school…I’m crushed…

marcosis, I’m in the same situation. I always wanted to go to NYU, was rejected as a high school senior, and I was accepted this year as a college freshman. My advice is to enjoy whatever other school you plan to attend. I made the most out of my current college and I love it. I will try for NYU again next year because having $80,000 in loans is okay and not as bad as $120,000, but still, you should enjoy whatever college you go to. The college you attend does NOT define you.
