Wow, so get this guys. I called today again because I didn’t get my decision yet, and they told me I would have it a while ago already. So then the guy said that if I keep calling, they are just going to waitlist me so that I stop calling. W-T-F?

lol ? thats the weirdest * Ive heard. How’d he know your always calling? he’s the one who always picks up your call? anyway… so i still haven’t gotten any response and its almost june… I guess that means a rejection is surely to come =/.

Did they really run out of housing for transfers???

@ collegefreak12. that is just crazy. can they even do that??!

could someone please tell me how i can find out about my financial aid? thanks.

^ you get a separate financial aid letter, I think it’s a pin & then you have to log on to view it.

I got my acceptance package early last week, but I still haven’t gotten my financial aid letter :/

oh ok. thanks for letting me know. i was expecting them to come together in the package. how are we suppose to SIR if we don’t know how much we are being offered? I tried to check online but it failed. i guess i will call the office tomorrow and ask.

@peacelovensarah:

I’m not sure exactly. They sent me an email for my acceptance (probably since it’s such an odd offer), but it never made it to my inbox, so the man I spoke with gave me an overview of what the email said. I asked why it’s contingent upon me studying abroad in the fall, and he said that he wasn’t sure, but it was probably because they didn’t want waitlist me, but there wasn’t going to be enough housing. At NYU at least, more students study abroad in the spring than in the fall, so there will be more Manhattan housing available then.

I’ve never heard of this offer before, and I never made any indication that I was interested in study abroad (I’ve always wanted to, but it’s incredibly expensive), so I can’t see why they would do this unless they ran out of housing by the time they got to me. The man I spoke with said that whoever went over my application probably didn’t want to reject me based on a lack of housing, nor did they want to put me on the waitlist and risk not getting in, so this was probably the next best thing available.

Overall though, I really have no idea what the real reason behind this is. It seems strange, but hey, I’ll take what I can get. Perhaps once I receive the email, it will shed some light upon the mystery behind my unusual offer?

congratulations octoberbay!! and i actually don’t think it’s that weird an offer. a lot of NYU transfers start out abroad, and even some freshman are asked to spend their first year abroad.

my brother went to CAS and he spent the fall semester of his junior year in london (he was not a transfer though). he LOVED it. all the nyu study abroad sites seem incredible.

For those still waiting for a response, there’s still a chance. I finally was able to activate my net id today and I have been trying everyday since May 1st so don’t assume a rejection.

october if you look at the nyu thread from last year similar offers were made so I don’t think it’s anything new although it is odd. I wonder if you offer to find your own housing in the city will they let stay? What city are they placing you in btw?

@ pinky & quentin:

Thanks! That makes me feel so much better haha. I’m accepting my offer regardless, but it’s nice to know that there will probably be some other transfers with me. They gave me a choice of Florence, Madrid, or Berlin (these, in addition to three other cities are still open to NYU students, so that’s probably why).

If anyone else got this offer and is going to Florence, PM me please!!

I have a question: does anyone know if we are allowed to take summer courses at our current university before starting at NYU in the fall?

I didn’t indicate any summer courses on my app so I’m wondering if I turn in my final transcript and it shows summer courses in progress what will happen…

I believe… you have to get permission from NYU first, probably talk to an academic adviser about it because there are restrictions of how many courses you can take outside & how many can apply to your major/minor

@ javakula - hey what are your stats?

Finally received an acceptance! CAS and going abroad in the fall too!! =D

going abroad? are you all appying for CAS?

how many people applied to stern and still have not gotten a decision back yet?? called again today… said that my application was still under review… starting to get a tad worried now.

I just called to filing processing office or something and they told me that they already sent out the letter…
I heard that usually they tell you a decsion when you got accepted.
but in my case, she said she can’t tell a decision over the phone… Isn’t that sign of rejection? brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Waiting for 2months and get rejected…I should go to bar and drink and then go crazy…

I got GPA 3.5 on 35 credits
applied to CAS ECON
no chance?

@googman
me, they told me that the decision has not been made yesterday, i an wondering what is taking so long
