Comments: I was accepted as an incoming Junior. I was offered some institutional grant (only $4500), pell grant, sog grant. I would need to take on over 30k in loans per year. With an EFC of 0, would they realistically expect anyone to feel comfortable with that much debt? This was one of my top choices, but thankfully, not my top. I bet it would have been an amazing experience, but I’ve gotten very good packages from other schools. Oh well.

I really think that NYU looks at each application individually and considers it from all points of view. Otherwise, why would they have taken so long to make decisions? At least we know now that if NYU wants you, they’re going to make room for you no matter what, even if it means studying abroad because they ran out of housing. It’s not a matter of ‘chance me,’ it’s a matter of whether or not they think you will be able to fit in and keep up with the curriculum. Every student is different and, luckily, they acknowledge this. Remember, regardless of whether it is an acceptance or rejection, there is a solid reason behind each decision they make.

absolutely, being on this forum for this long, I will NOT just walk away if it’s a rejection.

it’s absolutely right. Your words actually made me feel better because now I sense that they are really spending a LOT of time deciding to accept me or not. I submitted app on 7 march, the rec was in right before deadline, did not miss anything when I check in April, and now finally they said they will have something to tell me.

Glad I could help because really, we are all in this together, as a lot of us are going to be future classmates. I totally understand your anxiety since I submitted my application a little over a week after you. The good thing is, everyone that has made it to this stage has been seriously considered by the admissions staff. Everyone left on this group already made it past a few rounds of rejection so, everyone that is still waiting to hear, keep your heads up, and good luck to you all!!!

Again, anyone who has been accepted under the condition of studying abroad, please PM me if you’re going to Florence!!

it’s kinda funny, the way I found out. I called them at a quiet restaurant while I was waiting for my food. At this point, you don’t actually need an extenuating circumstance to let them transfer to someone who can check it for you. So I gave the person my ID, and she said, you will be receiving a decision by the beginning of next week. And I told her I received this email yesterday saying I should get a letter by this weekend, which is today, i guess finally she couldn’t hide anymore and said, ok we won’t be able to offer you the admission. I was like, wait did she just said something important? and I asked, you won’t? so that means I was rejected? And she’s like yes.

It’s sad, but hey I get to graduate in a year.

Okay so I’m the first person on this forum to post as wait-listed, but yes, I’m wait-listed for Stern.
I should be kinda happy I guess? Considering the competitive applicant pool? lol
