NYU Transfer Thread - Fall 2010

I submitted mine late Feb and my major was Neural Science

Oh wow, seriously? I thought I would have no misfiling problems or whatever, but I just called them just for kicks to ask about my application materials and omg. Well I went there in person and handed in a huge envelope on April 1st that included my transcripts from both Vanderbilt and Parsons, my recommendation letters, and other supporting materials to avoid that very issue of misfiling. However, when I called they told me that my Parsons transcript is actually missing, and that’s my most current transcript and it has my highest GPA so far. How can they lose it? Geez. Her reason was “maybe we just haven’t gotten back to your records to file your transcript”. 1, it’s been about 20 days. 2, how could they have filed my Vanderbilt transcript and not the Parsons one when I put both of them in the same envelope that I handed in? Ugh I’m just so stressed. Could that hurt my chances? Or even delay my decision further? Wow.

Thewoman, I have nearly the exact same problem. I just called them this morning to check in that they had everything. Since other people are finding out now, I sort of assumed they would have contacted me already if there were a problem. I was astounded when she told me they were missing my Columbia transcript–every other school got it, and I sent it weeks ago. I’m really upset by this–hopefully it won’t hurt our chances, but its bound to make the waiting game even longer.

@Javeb oh god I just posted a reply about my transcript which apparently is missing?!??!?! this is ****ing me off seriously.

@lioninwinter geez I KNOW right?! i’m worried about the same thing of it hurting our chances and delaying decisions even further. are you applying from columbia? are you entering as a sophomore or junior? this is my 2nd transfer, i transferred from vanderbilt to parsons and last year NYU actually rejected me i’m assuming because of a really horrible Fall GPA. I sent a Spring transcript that had a huge grade jump to follow up and a mid-semester report and apparently they never got them. Sighs.

@lioninwinter lol did you get my reply earlier? idk if my post got lost? haha. ughhh :-(

EDIT: okay i’m stressing out too much, i didn’t even wait for the page to load my new post. LOL

I’m actually walking to the welcome center as I type this to hand in my transcript!! Aghhhhh. I don’t think we should worry too much though because I’m sure this is happening to a lot of other kids. Let’s focus on what we can do now rather than what’s already happened. Sending good vibes to everyone!

Thanks Javeb! Knowing I’m in this with two other people is a bit calming. I’ll be at the Welcome Center at around 3:30pm today. Hope we still get decisions in early May. Sighs

thewoman–this is kind of my second transfer too. I was at a LAC for three semesters, and am now a visiting student at Columbia. They got my first transcript, but not my second. It’s especially annoying because this is my first and only term at Columbia, so it doesn’t even have grades listed.
Anyway, I guess we can’t do much now beyond getting the transcripts in and hoping for the best.

We will! If there’s 3 of us on here that it’s happening to, there’s probably hundreds of us. At least we’re being proactive and calling to find out! I’m sure a lot of kids assume that everything is in and don’t call. I turned my stuff in to the welcome center and the guy there said admissions would pick it up today. I think we’ll be fine, guys! And, thewoman, at least we’re in the city and able to drop our things off! And to others, you CAN fax things to get them there faster. I actually faxed/mailed everything AND dropped it off just to be safe!

Looking at the transfer admissions forum on the NYU website, the administrator said that transfers should be hearing “on or around May 1st” so I guess they’re going through them more quickly than they thought.

Good luck, guys!

Hey guys omg I just got out of class like 2 hrs ago and couldn’t even make it to the welcome center!!! Omggg and I have like a 4am bus to rhode island tomorrow morning oh noo I’m looking to see if I have a friend nearby who can turn it in tomorrow but if not I guess ill have to turn it in early Monday ahh I’m going nutsss :frowning: did you mail your Columbia transcript or did you turn it in, too? Have you done that yet?

Um… Thank god I read this thread… I called them after just to check on my application and lo and behold, they said my college transcript is missing. Even though all the other schools I applied to received it… UUUUUUUGHHHHHHHHHH

It will take until Monday for my school to process my transcript request so that I can bring it down. I’m definitely anstsy, but I guess at this point one business day can’t make much difference. I hope…

that is sooo weird how many of us whose transcripts they have missing! and i was certainly positive that my Parsons transcript couldn’t have gotten lost because it was literally paperclipped together with my Vanderbilt transcript (LOL). But they have my Vandy transcript on file and not Parsons?! Okay I’ve pretty much reiterated that 10 billion bajillion times. heyy @jimbo37 welcome to transcript receipt LIMBO. eek. @lioninwinter if I can’t have anyone turn it in for me tomorrow looks like we might end up dropping our stuff off together this monday aghh I’m hoping the same thing :-(

Wow! That’s crazy! Mannnnn NYU… Hope you all can get your transcripts in soon!

I see many people saying that NYU’s admissions clerks have told them that their transcripts are missing.
I have the same issue. I called today for the third time and the clerk told me that my HS transcripts are missing. I went to HS in Israel so I had the transcripts translated, certified and mailed to 5 different schools. NYU is the only school that doesnt have it. This time when I called they said the its not a case of them not getting to it yet, they are sure they dont have it. What happened the sending me an email informing me of this (thats what they said they will do the first 2 times I called). This is very weird.

Anyone has a similar issue?

yep. they’re just super inefficient.

I had same issues with few people here. I sent my highschool transcript with all of my document. When I called them they said my highschool transcript was missng. I told them I sent everything together. Then they were looking for my folder and found it. It seemed like they are doing like that on purpose. So just call them again and search for ur folder again. It might be there

I’ve applied to Stern, but haven’t yet heard back. I did call NYU and check if all my documents were in order though, which they thankfully were. It’s weird that no one on this thread’s gotten an answer yet, cause I know of two people who’ve gotten in. They both received emails 2 days ago.
