I would love to transfer to NYU in the Fall of 2012. My only problem is that I wen't through some family problems this year which caused me to only go to college for one semester and also caused my GPA to not be that great (its a 2.66). If I got my GPA up to a 3.4/3.5 by the send of my sophomore year and also explained in an essay about my family problems do you think I would have a chance of getting into the CAS? I also do E/Cs such at the school newspaper and debate.

What are your HS ECs? HS SAT score?

Your Spring semester Sophmore GPA won’t matter. You’re going to have to try to get a 4.0 in the courses you take next Fall (that will get you 3.33). It’s still possible to get in if you really compelling reasons for wanting to transfer, but I need more information on your stats.

Also, you should definitely try to explain your family problems if you think they’re that serious. However, don’t let it hinder your main essays.

Hope to hear from you soon.

My SAT was not that good, but if I am transferring as a Junior, I didn’t think that much weight would be put on it.
My High School ECs are
Varsity Field Hockey 4 years, MVP Senior year
Amnesty International
Varsity Girls Ice Hockey 2 years
Worked at a Grocery Store and at a retail store that sold Hockey equipment

The majority of my time was spent on sports and I was planning on playing field hockey in college, but it did not work out. So I didn’t research any colleges that did not have a field hockey team. I know NYU is not that big of a sports school, but I really don’t care, I never attended any sports events in high school or really cared about them nor do I now at my current school.

Thanks for any advice.
